George W. Bush will give a speech on investing in the Cayman Islands right before the election

Former president George W. Bush isn’t exactly doing Mitt Romney any favors on the messaging front. As the current face of the Republican party, Mitt’s single biggest challenge has been distancing himself from his image as a business tycoon who got rich by outsourcing American jobs and then keeping big chunks of his fortune in Swiss bank accounts and invested in the Cayman Islands.

On election week, George W. will rub the sketchy Cayman Islands playboy image right in Mitt’s face.

BuzzFeed points out that W. will give the keynote address to the Cayman Islands Alternative Investment Summit, which goes down on Grand Cayman Island November 1-2, less than a week before the presidential election. The other keynote speaker will be the UK’s most famous billionaire playboy, Virgin’s Richard Branson, who owns his very own island not so far from Grand Cayman.

The Summit’s site says the event “will bring together the world’s leading institutional investors, fund managers, academics, economists and regulators in the Cayman Islands—the world’s leading domicile for investment funds—to discuss and debate the fundamentals of a vibrant future for the alternative investments industry.”

To most Americans, this is a pretty simple equation: “Cayman Islands” + “alternative investments” = “sketchy.”

George W’s Cayman keynote is just the latest in a long string of reminders about Romney’s ultra-rich status and possibly sketchy behavior— and he’s not getting a lot of help from the people around him.

Just last week former GOP candidate Tim Pawlenty left Rommey’s campaign in a high-profile departure to become a lobbyist for the banking industry, and promptly said that banks should just be allowed to regulate themselves. Last week Romney released his 2011 tax returns which showed him paying a 14% tax rate, and if the hackers who claim to have stolen his earlier records weren’t bluffing and haven’t been paid a ransom, they may release even more of Romney’s returns tomorrow.

Accidental or not, somehow the messaging around Mitt’s millions seem to be the most consistent the GOP is able to construct around Romney.

Probably wont have the effect that gleeful Democrats expect, but still not good timing by W right before a close election.

The worst president I ever voted for seems to be doing his best here to help the reelection of the worst president I didn’t vote for.

Bush again?

Bush flooded the country with millions of illegals, Muslims, and foreigners, made U.S. citizenship all but pointless, left the borders to become a violent war zone, bailed out the banks and then he gives speeches investing in the Cayman Islands.

Never forget this guy...

Romney should use it as a talking point: Under the current management in our country, the Caymans are a better place to put your money.

Why not...Under Bush hundreds of thousands of our jobs and businesses went to Communist China, while he flooded our country with Muslims and low wage illegals. Boy, that sure worked out well.

I'd like to send Bush to the Caymans, along with his tens of millions. Put him on a raft.

Another in a long line of brilliant political statements and moves by the Bushies. Their dynasty has done more to undermine the house that Reagan built than Reid and Pelosi together.

Yeah, but Gore? Yuck and even worse Kerry? I might vote for Ronmey, I will hate myself for it but Obama again? The USA simply can’t not do 4 more years of Obama. I skipped the top last time, vote McCain was just to much to ask of this conservative.

Exactly. And phrase it as a question to Obama at the debates.

I wouldn't expect GWB to help Romney much. If he loses, it's Jeb's Turn in 2016.

When I get disgusted by something from Romney and tempted to vote for somebody like Goode, I think of the Democrats' embrace of the Sodom and Gomorrah agenda. In the end, I think that and not economics or national defense will cast my vote for Romney.

Of course, Ryan just endorsed the new social engineering in the military. They're making it hard on us.

It has to be said. If I had the option of my money paying for the Muslim Brotherhood, the GSA, gun-walking and Mooch’s vacations or stashed in the Cayman Islands...

I’m going with the Caymans.

For a good idea of how the Bushes feel about Reagan-type principles of small government and individual empowerment look no further than GW's comments during the primaries running up to the 1980 election.

Seems sort of fitting in a way.
As far as I know Romney has never said that he disagrees with anything GWB did, giving the impression that he (GWB) is Romney’s role model. This could be pure loyalty but I doubt it. So here GWB jumps in and reminds voters of those great eight years, so Obama doesnt have to,

These events seem to be aligning to kill Romney’s chances.

Exactly right. We would never have had Clinton elected if the Globalist Bush41 would have governed as Conservative as Reagan.

Every President since Reagan has been hard core statist on the domestic front. Our Republic is being destroyed by these evil globalist politicians.
