"The last I looked the idea of forcing free Americans to buy healthcare was not very popular in this country. So why is Romney portraying himself as someone who thinks it is? "

The reason is that Romney has bought in the liberal fallacy that if a politician spends taxpayers dollars on universal programs to "help" people then you are compassionate.

Notice Romney didn't say "I am compassionate I gave out of my own pocketbook millions of dollars to charity just last year." Instead he uses the example of him passing RomneyCare as an example of his compassion.

If Romney has already accepted the moral matrix of the left (i.e., spending taxpayers dollars= compassion), how is he ever going to be able to cogently explain any right-leaning legislation he'll support to Congress and the American people?

RomneyCare wasn’t so compassionate to the taxpayers that paid for it all through the government stealing their incomes.

Despite Perry’s poor performance due to meds after a back surgery, only 2 people took it to Romney.

Perry first and then Newt.

All that is water near a bridge.

We have to take Obama and his band of infiltrators out!

Who is advising Romney? This is an absolute winner for Romney - “As Gov of Mass I worked with the legislature to solve the problems of Mass - Romney care. In America “one size does not fit all”, Each of our states has unique problems that can only be solved by the Governor and Legislature of the individual states. “Romney care” was the Massachusetts solution for our people but was NEVER intended for the rest of the nation. When I was Governor of Mass, we solved our problems for our citizens, this was our responsibility under OUR State Constitution.

I believe the other 49 states need to do likewise. Again I believe there are 50 solutions for 50 states solved by 50 Governors and Legislatures, NOT President Obama’s one size fits all OBAMACARE solution for his “57” states. As President I will repeal OBAMACARE and turn the solution of local problems over to States.

“Romney did no such thing. He merely did what his constituents wanted.”

Which is why we have a constitution to keep the two wolves from voting to eat the sheep.

Great points CF. Romney should be defining himself as the anti-Obama, not one who is like him.

The Marxist in the white is owned by the Saudis and letting the Iranians and Muslim Brotherhood take over the Middle East !

Eric Holder is destroying our voting laws

Romney supports Israel not the Muslim Brotherhood / Iran !

The debates weren't Perry's downfall. His record of liberal policies were.

You have not proved how Romneycare is constitutional though you made that claim and you ignored the fact that Texas doing so well economically was due to the influx of stimulus dollars from the federal government. You need to rethink your positions.

I saw no where in the ad were Romney condoned a welfare state.
I saw him define himself against Obama by saying he would create 12 million new jobs to strengthen the middle class to lift them up.

I'm voting for him and I defended him on the 47% comment and his comments about the muslim terrorist attacks. At this point I'm less concerned with how he'll govern and more concerned with his electability. Beyond firing the base, how in the world can he make people who voted for Obama last time change their vote without strongly criticizing Obama? Why would they switch their vote unless there is no doubt in their mind that Romney's better?

It's sort of like being engaged. You wouldn't break off your engagement for a new woman who seemed a lot like your wife but promised to be just a little nicer to you than she is. She would have to convince you that not only is she WAY better than your fiance in every way, but that your fiance isn't who you thought she was, and lied to you.

Obama said many wonderful things before he was elected as well. I don’ t trust either one. Once in office Mitt could turn on a dime as did Obamass.

The ad is for Ohio.
People in Ohio have been depressed over work for almost 4 decades.
People there crave work, They want pride.
Obama offers crumbs.

“The difference is that in Massachusetts it was constitutional and it is what the people wanted.”

Where in the constitution of Massachusetts that John Adams wrote where it justifies the state forcing individuals to purchase services from a private entity?

Fact is, RomneyCare was just as unprecedented for States as it was for the Federal government. Don’t buy the Romney BS spin for their crimes against humanity.

And as for people “wanting it.” Keep in mind Romney and his cohorts in that state lied about what it would do, but now they can’t get rid of it because, like the mob, once you’re in too deep they won’t let you out. Romney still lies about it, claiming it worked. He keeps saying that he insured everybody. That’s BS. Just as many people were uninsured after the law as they were before, though there were lots more of “legitimate” moochers. He argued they were living off the system by getting free health care by showing up in the emergency rooms and things like that. So now he just pays for their healthcare entirely, and the people who were already paying are now FORCED to pay for levels of insurance dictated by the State paying hundreds of dollars more just based on their tax bracket.

It’s socialism but with the capitalist veneer. Hmmm, similar to how the Nazis sold Fascism.

I’m not sure why anyone is surprised. This is exactly the same thing Romney did when he ran against Kennedy in the debates in 1994. He was very sensitive to the idea that he would reduce the size of government. In one of the town hall formats liberals in the audience kept asking questions about if Romney would be cutting off or reducing government subsidies. Romney only claimed minor differences in the debate against Kennedy and at one point used words to the effect of “I’m not looking to make any big changes from how Kennedy would vote except in these minor areas.”

I clearly remember Limbaugh lambasting Romney on his radio show after that debate and suggesting that Romney’s response to the audience should have been something along the lines of “Ask not what your country can do for you. Did you not hear what this man’s brother said?”

Different campaign, same old Mitt Romney. The GOP is trying to fight one big liberal with a slightly smaller liberal. Oh no, we couldn’t elect a real conservative because Mitt Romney was sooooo electable. And some of our fellow conservatives fell for it. The GOP is pretty much dead to me at this point.
