TOLEDO, Ohio Mitt Romney, while campaigning in Ohio on Wednesday, highlighted the healthcare law that he passed while governor of Massachusetts as proof of his empathy for people.
I think throughout this campaign as well, we talked about my record in Massachusetts, don't forget I got everybody in my state insured, Romney told NBC News in an interview before he headlined a rally here. One hundred percent of the kids in our state had health insurance. I don't think there's anything that shows more empathy and care about the people of this country than that kind of record.

What better way of proving you are a better candidate than your socialist opponent than to describe to the public how you are just like him?
Think we better resign ourselves to the fact that he’s been campaigning for president for 5 years now. If he was capable of figuring out how to run a proper campaign, he would have figured it out by now.
Apparently he’s got another ad running today where he emphasizes how both he and Obama care about the middle class.
Amen!
He’s in a tough place...can’t attack his own law while not supporting Obamacare.
just luvs me some “compassionate conservatism”...
Oh boy, here we go. It’s 1994 all over again. Who can forget that by the time that senate campaign wound down Romney was “more compassionate, more gay friendly, more enthusiastic about abortion, more liberal” than Teddy Kennedy. And the race that Romney led at the beginning quickly turned into a Kennedy landslide.
This guy Romney is such a freaking coward...
Pray for America.
Romney does not understand the limitations placed on government by the founders. It is not the role of government to be compassionate. Taking from some to give to others is the foundation of tyranny. We have become a tyranny and are no more a constitutional republic.
No point in saying things nobody but us would agree with unless you want to lose. The ad is good.
Well stated, thank you.
They are no longer friends.
The difference is that in Massachusetts it was constitutional and it is what the people wanted.
At the Federal level it is unconstitutional and the majority did not want it.
The point is that Romney is not without compassion and worked within the letter of the MA constitution as well as the US constitution.
Yup.
I will take my chances with Romney.
It seems sometimes like BOTH candidates don't want to win, but OBOBO has the MSM to sit on any news or gaffes detrimental to OBOBO.
6 weeks out is no time to start shooting at our candidate.
Obama has a target on him as big as the moon.
Oh good grief! Well, he’s not Obama...he’s a democrat but Obama is communist. I will vote for the rat-faced elephant.
How does a mandate that forces a man to surrender some of his liberty and some of his property in purchasing a government-approved health-insurance policy comport with the natural rights to liberty and property expressly protected by the Massachusetts Constitution?
This guy is making me rethink my disdain for Juan McCain.
A point brought up in Ohio is that since the Supremes agreed with the Obama flip flop that said this was a tax and not a penalty, it is now illegal because taxes must originate in and be approved by congress. Obamacare was not sold as a tax in the legislative process.
The people of mASS got what they wanted and deserved. Romney should say “they will be bankrupt at their own fault and he does not want that for the RED states. The BLUE states can eat each orher and go to Hell. The RED states can eat what they want even if Moochelle objects!” If Romney said that it would help him, but I think he will not.
Our states are laboratory’s of freedom.
The Majority of liberal jackasses in Ma wanted it and the got it.
These are folks that gave Kennedy, Frank, and Kerry lifetime positions.
At the National level we have rejected this liberal crap, but Obama and Pelosi shoved it down our throat stifling the voice of the majority.
Romney did no such thing. He merely did what his constituents wanted.
Stay home. Don’t vote.
Reelect Obama.
The national debt and the SCOTUS are of no concern /S
Actually, he did just that as there are many in that state who did not want it; that means they were robbed of their constitutional freedoms.
Obamacare and Romneycare are both wrong. They are wrong because the idea that government at any level can force a person to buy something against his or her will is not only a bad idea, it is repugnant to the foundational idea of our republic: that we all have a God-given right to liberty.
Weasel words from Obama and the LA times
Romney’s remarks on his healthcare law prompted a retort from the Obama camp.
Mitt Romney is working overtime to rehabilitate his image after being caught writing off half of all Americans to a room of high-dollar donors. But his warm and fuzzy rhetoric doesnt match up with his policies, principles or priorities,” Obama’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, said in a statement. “In fact, while Mitt Romney held up the Massachusetts healthcare law as evidence of his empathy for people, minutes later he promised to repeal Obamacare, which is modeled after his own law.”
Earlier this evening there were several threads with the main theme ... we should all vote (blindly) for Romney because he is different than Obama and would give us America back. All that apposed this logic were condemned for being un-American and other less appealing names.
I see but little difference between the two and therefore will not leave my warm and comfortable home to brave the cold just to vote for Obama lite.
More of your anti Romney BS that smells like Paul bot troll BS.
Show the link of this supposed AD or zip it.
I like Rush and I know he just really wants Obama out of office but Mitt Romney is a disaster. He can’t draw a sharp contrast because their isn’t one. I’m not a Newt fan either but if the GOP is going to lose they should at least lose with a candidate who would describe clearly who Obama is and listening to Newt I often think he would have done a better job throwing those types of verbal bombs. As it is Romney will lose calling Sheik Obama a “Nice Guy”.
Throwing the baby out with the bath water are we?
From a freeper earlier, “cant wait to start removing Romney from office in 2016”
I am voting for Romney but if you guys keep picking these creeps, you really won’t tell the difference between Democrats and Republicans. You specifically are the type who would vote for Bloomburg if he had a Republican name after him. When does this nonsense stop????
he has to get those votes somehow
Your a Fool and more than likely a TROLL !
I notice the lets stay home BS from the Axelrod astroturf team is out in full force.
ObAMA IS A MARXIST MUSLIM WHO HATES THIS COUNTRY AND WANTS TO DESTROY IT.
hOW DOES ROMNEY COME ANY WHERE NEAR THE HATE OBAMA HAS FOR THE USA.
Yep, when both the baby and the bathwater are dirty.
Exactly - people need to exercise a little critical thinking.
It’s not compassion when you’re spending OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY.
I get it 40, but the majority in MA wanted it, that is why I live in Texas.
What burns me is how Obama SHOVED his crap down Americas throat with chicanery and under handed BS and Pelosi flipped us of with her huge gavel and how they taunted Tea Party activists and then accused us of spitting on that jerk John Lewis from the CBC.
Can You imagine Romney doing that crap?
The national debt will not improve under Romney. The SCOTUS (Yea, that’s a shame but Roberts was put in by a “conservative” and he just upheld government forced health care). I don’t know if the polls are right but I think everyone can agree that Obama is over 40%. That fact alone tells me the the United State of America is no longer much different than Canada or most European countries. The idea that people should be free to own property, free to fail and succeed. Free to mock and free to praise is one that is fading. It’s a sad end. Whatever people say the truth is probably that most of the founders were just right of Ron Paul on domestic issues and now Obama represents, if not the majority, a very large segment of the populous. The ideas that they were fighting for are decades in the ground

The last I looked the idea of forcing free Americans to buy healthcare was not very popular in this country. So why is Romney portraying himself as someone who thinks it is?
