TOLEDO, Ohio — Mitt Romney, while campaigning in Ohio on Wednesday, highlighted the healthcare law that he passed while governor of Massachusetts as proof of his empathy for people.

“I think throughout this campaign as well, we talked about my record in Massachusetts, don't forget — I got everybody in my state insured,” Romney told NBC News in an interview before he headlined a rally here. “One hundred percent of the kids in our state had health insurance. I don't think there's anything that shows more empathy and care about the people of this country than that kind of record.”

You might want to pick out Obamas SCOTUS picks.

And remember MA was loaded with Lib judicial picks.
What did he have to pick from?

Remember a month ago or so when the Romney spokeswoman referred to Romney care as a positive example and Ann Coulter went into a fit?,
That was the week he announced Ryan. So this should not be a surprise, Romney has little choice but to cite his MA record as a positive,

We need the Senate.
And the States.

I was not referring to Bain; I was referring to government health care. There is nothing compassionate about forcing some people to pay the bills of others. Mitt is a mealy-mouthed weasel who will not stand up for freedom and capitalism. He keeps trying to be a liberal lite and it’s disgusting.

Of course we need the Senate and the States. I’m pointing out, though, that getting rid of obama is even more important than getting the Senate.

People who think they don’t need to vote for Romney should realize that getting the Senate is not the big prize if obama is reelected. He has been a busy boy consolidating his power. He has shown his penchant for using executive orders to get what he wants, regardless of the legality of his order.

We also need people to vote for Romney in states where it will likely go for Romney anyway to get the popular vote higher. If/when obama loses, it needs to be by a significant margin to limit the damage the losing party may decide to inflict.

Well I was pointing to the juxtaposition of the two.
How is it that Romney is a socialist and a capitalist at the same time?.

We know what Obama is.
A Shyster.

but does he want to put America in its place....take it down a notch or two or twenty? obama does. Romney does not.

Sheesh, Mit. Just go back to saying that your Masscare was what Mass wanted, and that one size doesn’t fit all and should be left up to the individual States. That was the right approach.

“Romney did no such thing. He merely did what his constituents wanted.”

That’s not leadership.

Oh well. Hopefully November 7th we can start kicking Romney to the curb after the first term and put in Bachmann, Santorum, or a conservative.

This is FreeRepublic, not DreamLand. If we had any real power the Clintons would be in jail, and Apple would be broke.

There is little hope that we will ever have a Real Conservative again and I am too long in the tooth to worry about it any more.

We have lost the fight because we can't define the enemy, so maybe it is us.

Can You imagine Romney doing that crap?

Well yes, yes I can, but he will smile while doing it, unlike the scowling commie we have now.

mylife you may be shocked to learn that States also have Constitutions, RomneyCare was unconstitutional under the State Constitution. You pimp everyone of these threads and all you do is make matters worse.

“The point that is often missed and never reported on by the Obamedia is that Romney stresses that the Mass HC plan was a state decision and that any other attempts to insure people through taxation should also be a state decision.”

So you don’t have any objection to Obamacare other than it should have been done by the states instead of the federal government?

Romney said this because he knows he is losing as does him campaign and he knows the 47% tape comment hurt him, regardless of what the Rush spin machine claims.

Remember a month ago or so when the Romney spokeswoman referred to Romney care as a positive example and Ann Coulter went into a fit?,

so, what youre saying is that in POTUS politics, when a candidate has an actual, demonstrable record, that eventually the candidate will have to run on that record, and try to convince everyone that the warts are are really beauty marks ???

do this hold true even when the revelations of past *accomplishments* do more harm than good ???

need to find my memory-hole...

Yes, I believe the prior strategy of ‘ don't talk about what I did in MA, and don't give details about what I will do if elected, just talk about the bad economy 24/7.’ was a doomed one from the start. It assumed that Obama wouldn't aggressively attack his character, wouldnt fill in the details themselves and that the MSM wouldnt start reporting good economic news before the election.

Look at what Romney was trying to get across with this message, that he is compassionate. His campaign knows the 47% video hurt him bad and this is a response to that.

Romney just is the wrong candidate for this time. I am not even going to join in criticizing him for this statement, he is in a box.

wrong for anytime...and the box is of his own making, and as you indicate, was inevitable from the gitgo...

eventually he *had* to address his record, and try to shine that turd, while tightly gripping its corn textured tip...
