Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

I do not hold this against Mitt Romney. He seems to be a genuinely modest man and these are the stories that are out there because they made the papers at the time, surely through no effort by Mitt Romney to gain publicity.
There are probably a thousand other stories that we do not know about, and never will.
One of the things I do not like about our current income tax system is that you are required to tell the state how much money you give to charity. It is hard to not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing when you have to turn over all of the records with your tax forms.
I too do not hold this against Mitt.
On another note, I don’t feel like itemizing my contributions.
My thing and I got not problem with others taking the decuction.
