Libyan authorities to dissolve 'unlawful' militias

AFP - The Libyan authorities said late Saturday they had decided to dissolve all militias and armed groups that did not come under State authority.

The move, a day after Benghazi residents rebelled against the militias in violence that killed at least 11 people and wounded over 70, was announced by Mohammed al-Megaryef, head of the national assembly, in the eastern city.

Remember that we are dealing with a third world nation where “unlawful” doesn't mean the same thing as it does in the first or second world.

In almost every third world nation anything that has access to arms is a government sponsored entity of some sort. The fact that these “militia” groups were so heavily armed indicates that they had significant government support/sponsorship. The nicest thing that i will say about these “militia” groups is they allow the existing governemnt system to run politically deniable operations with impunity. Something that has been going on in the Islamic world for 40 plus years,

Your statements are quite reasonable, accept for Something that has been going on in the Islamic world for 40 plus years, ... may I humbly submit for the past 1500 centuries in essence. The answer is yes. With either hydrochloric, sulphuric, or nitric acid. All are known to possess the chemical properties of "dissolving" militia's metallic weapons.

I'm still wondering what the morons in the WH and DOS where thinking about to over throw the Libyan regime who where willing to stop their wmd programs and keep the totally royal asshole level Islamist of all stripes from getting out of hand in that country.

I'm still fuming over how our State Department conducts business. Of course I have to go back in time to at least the Second World War and the types that where already infiltrating that institution as well as other parts of the Federal gov. Enough. You get my drift.
