(CNN) - Newt Gingrich on Friday urged Mitt Romney to go after President Barack Obama in next month's debates with a gusto the former House speaker knows well.

"When he walks in to debate Obama, he's got to be as tough with Obama as he was with me in Florida," Gingrich said in an interview on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight."

Yep. The Romney ads here attacked Gingrich for his ‘personal issues’ and insinuated that Santorum supported abortion. Romney can be a viper. When he wants to be.

Early voting has already begun in many states. Maybe it is time for Romney to crank it up, if he is ever planning on doing so.

Maybe so. Romney's lucked into his better moments, like with obama's "you didn't build that" or "changing gov from the outside" but whatever else he's doing isn't making it past the media filters.

Unless obama has similar luck, I believe it will be a landslide for Romney, with or without Romney's help, but it would be better if he didn't take that thought for granted and stepped up his game instead.

obama is a one term, way beyond Carteresque disaster that his supporters can't defend. Voters aren't clueless, just uninformed. Romney needs to change that, but if he doesn't the PACs will do if for him.

Let the obamanation's unraveling continue...followed by the indictments.

Perhaps one might use this for a litmus test: Newt is rooting for Romney to win because the Nation is more important than anything else....

I saw Gingrich saying this on one of the Fox programs the other night, iirc. He was matter-of-fact about it, in my opinion.

Nonetheless, as I heard Gingrich nailing the administration to the wall over Egypt, Libya, and other things, I couldn’t help but wish one more time that Newt was the one carrying the banner. Too bad.

Yea, I was for Newt, it wasn’t pretty. I wish Romney would take some advice or use both Newt and Sarah on the campaign trail but it is what it is. ABO.
