Whats the consensus? Was it a good debate? Did Todd do a good job?
I watched the latter part -- TV streams were having a difficult time broadcasting the early part of the debate.
My only previous familiarity with Akin was his non-apology speech. However, I thought he was very impressive during this debate. McCaskill did give him several bits he could use against her.
McCaskill said her biggest responsibility as a politician [that is, Senator] was to listen to the people.
Akin brought up that some 70% of Missourians oppose Obamacare.
Apparently, McCaskill was NOT listening to the people when she cast the deciding vote to pass Obamacare.
McCaskill also made a comment that Missouri has the lowest tax rate on cigarettes. Missouri could add $1.00 in new taxes and the state would still have the lowest tax on cigarettes.
Sounded like McCaskill was encouraging smokers and increasing cigarette tax -- because the state could use the money.
One laughable moment was when she said 'I can still remember the locations of the Post Offices in the towns where I grew up.' [huhhhh? snicker]
McCaskill: There are a lot of things in the [re: Obamacare] bill ...
[Pelosi: We gotta pass it to find out what is in it.]
McCaskill advocated pulling the infrastructure money going to Iraq and Afghanistan.
McCaskill basically said a Federal Budget bill was irrelevant.
Akin says it is a Constitutional mandate.

LOL and if the rest of the states would raise theirs higher we could raise ours that much higher and still have the lowest.
