Another court denies DA right to carry gun in courthouse

For the second time, a Wisconsin court has turned down two prosecutors' efforts to override a ban on them carrying concealed weapons at work in their courthouse.

Winnebago County District Attorney Christian Gossett and his deputy DA Scott Ceman believe Wisconsin's new concealed carry law specifically allows them to carry guns to work. But the judges of the county -- like judges in most counties -- have issued orders that no guns will be carried by anyone other than on-duty law enforcement officers without specific permission from a judge or commissioner in front of whom the CCW permit holder might appear.

Gossett and Ceman went to the Supreme Court in June, but it turned down their petition without explanation. Next, the prosecutors turned to the Court of Appeals with a petition for a supervisory writ, essentially an order to a lower court judge.

On Friday, that court, too, turned them down, with a written order and opinion.

Since there's a Judge Dredd remake coming out, I thought this Stallone classic line deserves airing:

I bet those very same judges carry a gun under their robes.

Justice for me but not for thee.

Separation of powers. The next step is for the legislature to cut their budgets for not complying.

Left wing fascist judges fearing armed citizens is a good thing.

In Dane County several years ago, the Coroner was shot down in the court house. They responded by installing a metal detector. http://articles.latimes.com/1988-01-16/news/mn-9425_1_wounds-rifle-kills

Seems to me it would make sense to allow concealed or open carry by employees and LEOs in the court house.

So, let me get this straight: the DA is an idiot.

Why? Because according to US Code ch 18, sec 242 it is illegal for someone "under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States".

Honestly, the DA should just write this up and submit it to the Grand Jury, forget using 'appeals' because these judges cannot legitimately do this.

If judges and DAs can bring guns into the courthouse then any citizen legally allowed to carry a firearm should be allowed to bring their gun into the courthouse. If the citizen can’t then the judges and DAs shouldn’t be allowed. Nobody should be above the law.
