Ethics committee won't charge Calif. Rep. Waters

WASHINGTON (AP) -- California Democratic congresswoman Maxine Waters will not be charged with ethics violations.

At a meeting Friday, House Ethics Committee members said they found no violations in their investigation of allegations she steered a $12 million federal bailout to a bank where her husband owns stock.

This case has been a mess for some time. If you go to the article, all of the GOP members on the ethics committee and the ranking Dem recused themselves, largely because of a dustup regarding two GOP ethics staffers back in 2010 who were fired for going around the Staff Director and talking directly to Jo Bonner and other GOP Committee members - a no-no, as the Staff Director is supposed to be the only conduit between staffers and Committee members.

I imagine that the remainging committee members felt that Waters could cause a lot of problems because of such past problems with the Committee's methods, whether she was guilty or not. And voted accordingly.

So yet another dirty pol gets to skate.
