Secret files kept by the Boy Scouts of America reveal the organization's leaders may have helped hundreds of suspected child molesters "cover their tracks" by often hiding the allegations from parents, the public and police, according to a Los Angeles Times investigation.
Documents obtained by the newspaper detail a paper trail of abuse where volunteers and staff were sometimes allowed to quietly resign to spare their reputation and that of the Scouts.
"We are making no accusations and will not release this information to anyone, so our action in no way will affect your standing in the community," stated a form letter sent to some alleged abusers in the '70s....

Seems like stories such as this makes the current ban on homo scoutleaders all more reasonable.

HOWEVER:
This stinks to high heaven in its obvious attempt to smear the BSA. “From 1919 to the 1991” 500 alleged cases of abuse. That equates to roughly 7 cases per year. How many troops and Scouts were active in those 72 years?
Granted ONE incident is too many. Unfortunately, their is no pedophile proof system that can be implemented in any organization. Pedophiles are a “virus” in society. This “virus” changes, mutates, and adapts to defeat any safeguard put in place. There are deviants EVERYWHERE. The first step in protecting a loved one is accepting that. Trust NO ONE with your children as a baseline. Anyone with access to your children should be vetted, tested, and proven. Repeat this process continually. Educate your children early and often about what is appropriate and inappropriate contact.
Back to the obvious.
The media(liberals) despise the BSA. They will do anything to damage and hurt this organization. Trial lawyers, society’s parasites, are looking for money. Decent folks would hope this abuse was minimal. Trial lawyers would prefer a million victims to help increase the money they could pursue.
The only positive is that this SHOULD end the absolute nonsense about openly accepting HOMOSEXUALS in to an organization that is full of young boys and young men. All abuse in these BSA records was targeted toward MALES. All offenders were HOMOSEXUALS.
This is coordinated, Milwaukee TV station also ran a feature on this this week.
Think how different the Catholic Church’s scandal would have been if they had had these kinds of records and a proactive approach.
Sadly both Romney and Obama believe gays should be included in the Boy Scout Programs.
They've always wanted to claim B-P as gay, because they want to claim anybody they can get their hands on: Abraham Lincoln, King David, Jesus Christ.
The "evidence" they adduce in B-P's case is that he had suspicious 'principles' in favor of virtue and opposed to vice (self-hating gay), he advocated abstaining from sex until marriage (repressed gay!) and later in life, married and had 3 children (overcompensating gay!!).
Also, supposedly because of allergies, he used to sleep on his balcony (allergic to the wife! What'd I tell ya!)
Personally, I think it was about being British. Doesn't that explain it all?
BP’s perversions were a lot more weird than gayness. He was a lover of executions, any executions, but particularly botched hangings with max flopping about.
There is a well documented case of one that he missed, having got the time wrong and went into a screaming fit throowing all into disarray.
And yes, BP travelled extensively solely for executions.
I am a Scout leader with 2 sons in Scouting. My wife and I talk about the issue of allowing homosexual leaders in Scouting. She is apolitical but is basically a Democrat. I believe she would even support allowing gays into scouts.
I asked her that if we had a open homosexual male scout leader in the troop, would she allow that individual to take our 11 year old son on a weekend camping trip, even if there were other adults present.
She thought for a minute and then said, “NO” she would not allow that to happen. CASE CLOSED!!! BSA should never allow homosexual adult males into scouting.
