Al Qaeda, ex-Gitmo detainee behind consulate attack, intelligence sources say

Intelligence sources tell Fox News they are convinced the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was directly tied to Al Qaeda -- with a former Guantanamo detainee involved.

That revelation comes on the same day a top Obama administration official called last week's deadly assault a "terrorist attack" -- the first time the attack has been described that way by the administration after claims it had been a "spontaneous" act.

"Yes, they were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our embassy," Matt Olsen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said during a Senate hearing Wednesday.

Olsen echoed administration colleagues in saying U.S. officials have no specific intelligence about "significant advanced planning or coordination" for the attack.

1.Stephens, 2 Exseals, and 1 attachee were reported in Benghazi. I heard 1 report that 32 people got out of the consulate (not security, or did not act to secure the Ambassador). That leaves 2 Ex-Seals who were not security (our government has now finally revealed this) for the Ambassador.

2.The Attachee was not security.

3. Benghazi is about 1,016 miles from Tripoli (site of Embassy). He was in a vehicle which was not secure.

4. What was an Ambassador doing 1,016 miles from the Embassy in Benghazi, unsecured, without any security or protection, on September 11? Is this what an Ambassador's job description includes?

on the tele this am, a former FBI official stated, IIRC, the release occurred in March of 2010. Also stated, was released during revolution by those not supporting Qadaffi. If am correct, and I heard what I think I heard, there is much much more to this.
