Gingrich: The collapse of the Obama strategy against radical Islamists

The real meaning of the violence of the last week across the Muslim world is the bankruptcy and collapse of the Obama strategy which began with his speech in Cairo. President Obama had a deep conviction that pandering to Islamic sympathies, identifying with the virtues of Islam and parroting phrases that sounded good would lead to a deeper acceptance of the United States by Muslims.

While reaching out to “mainstream Muslims,” the Obama strategy would wage selective war against designated enemies. The Obama administration decided to ignore concerns of sovereignty and to kill terrorists with stepped up drone attacks.

It apparently did not occur to the Obama team that the enemy could and would react.

There are three things profoundly wrong with this analysis.

1. The Libyans reject it as a matter of fact.

2. It confuses excuse with cause.

3. It suggests a solution which would subordinate American civilization to Islamic supremacists.

I thought Romney was going to let him (as well as Perry) be more visible in support of the GOP cause, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case.

Pity, because nobody can say it like Newt.

A major selling point for Romney would be touting Newt as his Secretary of State.

I think the important thing now, like the warning that went to the Iranians when Reagan was going to replace the spineless weasel Jimmy Carter, should be the warning that Romney should send to the Islamists.

This being that under Obama, you have been able to taunt and abuse America. Once elected, Romney will “cut down their groves and vineyards, and plow their fields with salt.”

That there will be no safe haven for Islamist thugs anywhere in the world. That the US will hunt them down and exterminate them.

I disagree. This time he is way off. Obama's policy concerning radical Islam didn't collapse. It went exactly as he planned it and it went exactly as he said he wanted it. Not many people were listening when he was running in 2008. Apparently Newt wasn't either.

God I just love Newt. He lays everything out so clearly like the teacher he is...the GOP would gain a lot if they would listen to him.
He was ahead of everyone in the debates on this topic along with many others. Our country needs him to serve in some capacity that will make a difference. IF the rino’s would permit...God forbid they don't find someone that is more middle of the road to “reach across the aisle.” YOU and I both know that is not Newt's style...he will tell it like it is

Hi P@B. I’m sure you won’t read this, but just in case...LOL, I can’t believe you’re still spamming threads with your cut and paste screed against Mitt - and it MUST be killing you that you haven’t made any converts of the “fools” on FR.

Just for the record, I was for Newt, and I started out thoroughly disgusted that Mitt was our candidate. Then I kinda went through acceptance because I was pretty much ABO.

Today I’m at the point where I’m satisfied with him and believe he’s already mopping the floor with your buddy bo, or else he would be staying above the 50% mark.

You only have a few more weeks of cutting/pasting - so enjoy.

If the RINO party had given Newt a prime time speaking slot like Clinton got to detail the destruction that decades of liberal policies have had on our economy, our culture and our foreign policy, Romney would have emerged from the conventions ahead in the polls.
