Studies have shown that having a gun at home can increase the risk of firearm-related violence, and someone who lives in that house or visits it is 12 times more likely to be killed by that gun than a burglar.
That said, many people own gunsa nationwide Centers for Disease Control survey found that 32 percent of Americans have one at home.
What do you think? Would you care if your guy kept a gun at home?
Would you be okay with your guy hiding a gun at home?
* Yes. It makes me feel safe. 31%
* No. It freaks me out. 21%
* I have my own gun at home. 32%
* It doesn't bother me either way. 15%

Love the results. Tried to split the pro gun position into multiple votes and they still lose.
Way to go ladies! Glad the majority of you own your own gun!
I snorted... something.... onto the keyboard, I LOLed so hard.
Wimminz are getting a clue.

DON'T HIDE THE WEAPON! It should be on the table, in plain sight for everyone to see.
That way, when the cops walk in, and ask "Why do you have a gun on the table?", you can answer "There isn't room for a cop".

Angelina Jolie is Jon Voight’s daughter. That may account for some of her positive traits.
Also neglects to include criminals thwarted by being injured or simply scared away by a gun. After all, a “successful” use of a gun for self defense doesn’t automatically result in a dead criminal (all stories can’t have a perfect ending).
Almost every lady carries a handgun on her person or in her purse down here.
It's easy to make scary statistics if you isolate them from any context.
According to DOJ crime statistics, guns are used by private citizens 2.5 million times per year to prevent violent crimes like rape, robbery, home invasions and carjackings, 99% of the time without a shot being fired.
What happens to those 2.5 million people per year when you take away their guns?
The places with the most mass-shooting are also the places where guns are not allowed; churches, schools, government buildings, etc. They are therefore the very places where psychopaths can feel safest from interference.
Outlawing guns will not get rid of guns any more than outlawing drugs got rid of drugs. Guns can be manufactured clandestinely just like drugs can be manufactured clandestinely. Outlawing guns will only ensure that government and other sociopaths are the only ones with guns.
Governments, primarily socialist/Communist governments, murdered 200,000,000 of their own citizens in the past hundred years, and gun control was always the prelude to those genocides.
Not only do I have a gun, I have one in just bout every room in the house. I invite you to break in at night. It will depend in which room I’m in, as to which gun you’ll be blown apart with anything from a 12 Ga with “OO” buckshot or deer slug, to 40 S&W.
Oh! By the way I refuse to bless that poll with my preference!
“Studies have shown that having a gun at home can increase the risk of firearm-related violence, and someone who lives in that house or visits it is 12 times more likely to be killed by that gun than a burglar. “
I don’t think so. These supposed studies are totally bogus. We both have weapons and we will never give a burglar an even break.

If cops around here walked in and there was no visible tool (gun) they would think you are a freak.
Also keep a tool in the pocket. Ain’t no good unloaded locked up.no different than a set of keys or fingernail clippers.

Yes sir’ee. A man is judged by the number and size of his chainsaws...nad his other tools!
I am so sick of certain media mantras---guns, homos, racists. They need to live in another country (3d world) and get a reality check.--or maybe live in this country in a rural area with varmints--or the Chicago Southside, where they have varmints a plenty.

Man if you ever wished an m-16 would have had a misfire incident, it’s during that picture.

This is my rifle.
This is my gun.
This is for fighting, this is for fun!
I do use the Sgt. voice thing.
Every weapon is loaded and dangerous. Every counter has knives that you can't see because you are short (mostly true). Every wire can kill if you touch it (also somewhat true).
One of you is a spare. I hope I don't have to see which one it is, today.
Mostly, the little guys walk around looking at stuff with their hands in their back pockets.

Well, since someone who lives in that house or even just visits there is hundreds or thousands of times more likely to even BE in that house than a random bad guy who may or may not pick that house, this is a pretty empty statistic.
Good stuff. I’d like to use that someday.
The poll is getting hammered, in spite of the bogus “studies” quote. 4 out of 5 in favor or tolerant of gun ownership:

This has to drive the writer crazy. Maybe she will be educated.
Well, it’s kind of obvious. If you do not have a gun in your house, no one is going to be hurt by a gun in your house.
Duh.
Have several loaded guns tucked away in various rooms in the house that only family members know the location of.
Just in case of unwanted surprises.
So we do safety briefings. ;)

Yes, I have an opinion:
“Studies have shown that having a gun at home can increase the risk of firearm-related violence...” Hell, yes, if it doesn't increase the risk of firearm-related violence, there is no point in having it. Firearm-related violence is what happens when you shoot an intruder.
If I had a man, sure I'd like him to have more than one gun and I would feel safer, plus he could shoot my Remington shot gun (has an extra barrel) and Remington rifle as both of those are too heavy for me. I'll use the Colt 38 special and the Ruger 38 special. Now, if I just had a man.................
I'm not sure where they all are. I am sure one is handy to wherever I happen to be.
It's like ammo. If you know how much you have... you don't have enough.

Send picture of boat and motor.
Scared the crap out of the catz, I laughed so hard.

True!
What an excellent line! LOL
Nope. Arty boys are going to have to carry guns on their hips and over their shoulders, while they feed their guns.
We've lost an entire word. And it's meaning.
My personal firearms shall, of course, remain pistols or rifles, regardless of the current degradation of the language.
Gladius... pilum... whatever, dude...

I quit using it last weekend when the younger told me that I'd decided... and BTW, she had my power of attorney.
Turns out that smart little minx was correct.
Grandkids don't know the trick yet, so it's still safe with them.

Same up here ... Alaska ladies aren’t quesy about guns.
“Send picture of boat and motor.”
Would pictures of the Remington shot gun and rifle with scope do (they are in new condition), as I don’t have a boat and motor. What a pity, bet I just missed my chance.
Possibly ping list worthy.
Mrs CW3 is an expert with a number of handguns, I am a retired SA and can shoot rather well, should someone wander into the residence they really should have considered their options a bit before breaking in.
My wife who is every bit the fashion maven Gurley-Brown wished she had been...blogs about cutting edge clothing stuff from odd places like Denmark .....thinks Kate Moss is a demigod for coolness and style at 40 and was a former music video chick herself back in the day before I corrupted her..and serially repopulated the earth with her
says for the record she thanks Gawd her man has guns and knows how to use them to protect her and all those spawn* she cares for in their home in the country
let me tell you kids here ..this from a dude who lived amongst the bots in NYC and lived with a Barnard prof when all this crap took off in the 80s
even the worst harridan strident fembot shrew deep inside still wants a man to be a man...open doors...go Rhett on her from time to time...see the movie...”the staircase incident”
and make her feel safe and taken care of
don’t be that little dwarf dweeb letting her drive the Prius
nut up!
*oldest manchild at 12 is actually adequate to fill in for pride leader if called upon...knows where they are and what to do with them...at today gorgeous dove hunt...he hit more than daddy to be honest...it was the guns’ fault (an 80 year old Sweet Sixteen modyfied)...lol...the doves felt sorry for me and flew lower and slower so I could see them
???? Thought I d/fingeredeleted the first.
very positive comments on the site
all things considered
guns empower women...literally..more than a nice “career” paychek even
women without guns live in a physical fear most men simply never have till we men get older then you realize you are getting more like how women feel
not steady or quick enough to fight like you used to...and i hate that to tell ya the truth
my last gig was at 43 and I won...a much younger man too..but I know now any fight I get in better be quick and if I hit the gravel rolling around it will hurt a lot more
my boys are getting older and damned tuff...maybe they can cover for me..lol
my own dad could kick ass till mid 60s...
in all seriousness ...lack of balance is what I feel more than anything except of course...wind
My comment was based upon an old joke.
But nevermind that for now. Do you believe a man aint gotta' be pretty?
That gun wouldn't be of much use if you first had to go looking for it instead of having it close to hand.
Five steps is the furthest I have to go at any time and I sometimes feel that even that is too far.
And what is this woman supposed to do if the guy is killed and she didn't know where the gun was hid?
Just lay still under the bed or hide in the closet and hope she isn't found?
What an illogical poll.
