According to the Lebanese news organization Tayyar.org, citing AFP news sources, U.S. ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens, who was killed by gunmen that stormed the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on Tuesday, was reportedly raped before being murdered.

A news report made by the Libyan Free Press is also reporting that Ambassador Stevens was sodomized before he was killed:

"Libya - USA Ambassador in Bengazi sodomized and killed by his own al-Qaeda puppets."

Words for this kind of brutality, especially to a guy who HELPED free them from Gaddaffi, escape me.

BUT THESE WORDS DO NOT ESCAPE ME: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” ~Barack Hussein Obama, Dreams of My Father

Bet you won't be seeing THIS ONE on the Evening Network News tomorrow night!

There are at least 3 significant factions at play/war in Libya—the Islamists, the secularists, and former Gaddafi supporters. We need a lot more information on who actually perpetrated this outrage before assigning blame in our own country. It has the flavor of Al Qaida, possibly a 4th faction.

The killers sodomized him, then murdered him.

What do you think these maniacs would do with a nuclear weapon?

If Romney loses, we may soon find out.

I can’t believe that the Kenyan lowlife is out party, fund raising and cracking jokes in Vegas. What a piece of human debris.

If this story is true then they were really raping this country...by proxy. Sending a message.

Still in some past century...animals.

I have also wondered if these attacks are merely diversionary and a biggie is coming soon.

Qaddafi was reportedly sexually abused (not sure if he was still alive) before they got rid of his body.

Remember, this it the Middle East where Islam allows the mutilation of its perceived enemies. In the Philippines, the Moslems and Communists decapitate and mutilate Philippine troops. The same with Moslems in Thailand re govt troops, Buddhist monks, etc.

The Pakistani Taliban beheaded 17 Pakistani paramilitary soldiers a couple weeks ago and put their heads on display in a video. Typical behavior for the Taliban and their allies.

Why should Islamic extremists in Libya be any different?

The only solution is to hunt them down and kill them all, and anyone who helps them. “Collateral damage” is not in my vocabulary!!!

There is no doubt in my mind, that if Barack Hussein Obama is re-elected, Iran will get its nuclear weapon and use it on both Israel and the USA!!! I am not saying this to frighten anyone, but.....those are the facts of life in the world of Barack Hussein Obama!!!

I can remember history very well. The Roman empire fell. Germany & Japan had built huge perimeters of defense rims by attacking and taking over surrounding areas to use as a buffer against attacks, but.....the USA/British air forces slowly, by surely bombed cloer and close to those homelands and finally destroyed them to stone cinders!!! America, wake up!!! We are under attack!!! If Obama is re-elec”Headted, you can be assured it will get worse.

His speech last evening in Las Vegas was weak, showed headlights in his deer eyes. This dude is lost!!! Hillary Clinton, has the look in her eye, “My God, this man obama is incapable of any leadership whatsoever!!!”

I have been in combat and believe me, nobody has time for nookie when bullets are flying around.

If this follows the Gaddafi pattern, nookie had nothing to do with it. It was simply an opportunity to shove a sharp object up an infidel's ass. Before finishing him off. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'll buck the trend here and agree - I'm inclined to give Libya a bit of benefit of the doubt, unlike Egypt, for a few reason.

First, the nation is still highly factionalized, various disparate militia groups holding sway over many areas. The central government, as it is, doesn't have a great deal of control over the nation. The situation is very different in Egypt - there, the new regime inherited the large police and security forces that kept the military in control for decades. They had to know that the attack on the embassy was going to take place, and could have prevented it from happening if they wanted. Whereas, the Libyan central government could potentially have been unaware of the plot to attack the consulate.

Second, the government responses. The Libyan president and prime minister quickly apologized, and forcefully stated opposition to the attack as an act of barbarism against freedom. By comparison, the Egyptian government waited quite a bit, and when they finally announced their response, it was a mealy-mouthed apology that wasn't really an apology, but that actually blamed the US even more. And then Morsi went on to demand that the filmmakers be tried.

I think that is quite telling - these are both leaders of new and shaky governments. They likely wouldn't be making major statements that would arouse hostility from the bulk of the populace. That the Libyan leaders spoke in such a public manner indicates that they felt the bulk of Libyans (at least those supporting the new central government) wouldn't significantly disagree with them. Time will tell how true that is - the appearance of moderately sized marches in Libya voicing discontent with the attack might just be signs of minority groups or of plants, it's too soon to tell. I don't view the anger at the attacks voiced in the Libyan blogosphere as being sign of much - in a nation like Libya, those people active in the internet are going to be of the urban, more secular and international segments of the populace, and not necessarily representative of the general population.

We should demand and receive major concessions, but I'm willing to give the Libyan government a chance before skipping to the "start punitive air strikes" option that some people here are calling for.

In 1960 I lived in Tehran, Iran. I was 13 years old. I was in a Taxi going back to my house when we encountered a riot at the corner of Pahlavi and Takdamanshi. The violent riot was by the supporters of the ousted communist Mosadeq. I was scared shit-less. I crouched down as near as I could get to the floor of the taxi. I was lucky as the taxi driver understood the danger to me and himself. He could have easily stopped and thrown me out of the cab.

I only knew this taxi driver for about 15 minutes. I do not know his name. He was a good man. I owe him.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention - large amounts of additional anti-American protests have cropped out outside the embassy in Egypt following the first assault. In Libya however, a nation lacking effective security forces, the embassy proper (it was a consulate that was attack, not the embassy in Tripoli) has not seen large protests following the attack, even when they have been cropping up in separate nations altogether like Tunisia.
