On another post, one of the embassy staff sent an e-mail that the Libyan security guys were taking photographs of the place the night before.

I also remember when democrats were patriotic and loved America. In those days, JFK, LBJ, and so many other leaders of their party would not have tolerated such an attack or any politician who ignored an attack on our country. Today, the dems see it as a chance to apologize again. I'm not fond of the spending policies of the dems, even decades ago, but as with the writing skills of journalists, what has happened to the patriotism of that party is pathetic.
No, I think Obama now has another major problem on his hand that he is ill-equiped to handle.

- apologies were made for the Americans who encouraged the attacks
- Obama didn’t attend daily security briefings the entire week prior
- the attacks were coordinated; despite an “Arab Spring”
will absolutely be devastating for his campaign. There is no way out of this for Obama. Some of the press is trying to place some sort of blame on Romney (???) but no one is buying it. Even if he does what is right (immediate military retaliation and cut off all aid to Egypt) there will still be questions about the meetings he skipped and his gross misjudgement of muslim intentions.
But he won’t do what is right. With no military experience and a history of bumbling diplomatic actions, Obama will take minimal action, thus demonstrating his weak resolve and open Americans to more attacks.

I have no idea what this is. I only know what I read in that thread.
One thing we must remember is that there was a civil war in Libya. Islamists and secularists I imagine are still struggling to install their preferred form of government. And Gaddafi supporters are still lurking in the background. Who knows what sub groups of plotters may be involved and which is their allegiance? I doubt Obama or State know either.
