Democrats were not too happy that Timothy Cardinal Dolan admonished them about respecting human life and religious liberty during his closing benediction at the Democratic National Convention.
On Twitter, hundreds of liberals vented their frustration with the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Below are a handful of the samples of F-bombs liberals dropped on the Catholic cardinal during and after his benediction.
“Grant us the courage to defend life…waiting to be born, welcomed & protected,” he said, excoriating Democrats to support religious liberty as well in light of the controversial Obama HHS mandate that Catholics and pro-life advocates oppose. Dolan prays for “life, without which no other rights are secured.”
“God grants us the right to life so we can choose liberty and happiness,” he said, adding that unborn children should “be welcomed and protected.” He referred to the right to life, without which no other right has meaning, saying, “We praise You for the gift of life, grant us the courage to defend it.”
“Renew in all our people a profound respect for religious liberty, the first, most cherished freedom,” he said.

These Democrats are now, today, beyond even pretending that they are in favor of such things (remember the “safe, legal, and rare” that they claimed to want to make abortion to be?).
This priest voiced a desire that is not just “Roman Catholic” but common to all serious Christians.
Doggone it, these Rats don’t even want a fig leaf any more.
And the democrats will leave him twisting in the wind.
I thought his prayer was fantastic.... better than the dems deserved, especially after that vote.
Dolan earned a special spot in heaven for walking into the “valley of the shadow of death” and saying such an excellent prayer.

Paragraph 1400 from the CCC states,

This paragraph speaks about Protestants. But it also has a phrase that speaks to the Catholic confession of faith in the Mass. Whenever you see a Catholic church spire, it is like a billboard with a message. The Pope, the Cardinals, the Bishops, all are messengers of that message. The message is summed up in the important phrase,
"… they commemorate the Lord's death and resurrection in the Holy Supper … profess that it signifies life in communion with Christ and await his coming in glory."
This describes the confession of Christ by Catholics in the Mass. That is when the world opposes them so strongly.
Weep for our once republic.

Honestly, were I pro-abort, I would still hope to have the good grace just to leave the arena before the Cardinal came to make his benediction. They knew full well the tenor of what he’d be saying.
It would be interesting to see them try to cattle-car us all.

An absolutely brilliant prayer. It should appeal to every Christian or Jew. And it is filled with references to our Constitutional freedoms.
I take back everything I said about the invitations to the Al Smith Dinner. Now, having seen this prayer at the DNC, I wonder if Obama will back out of that dinner rather than risk another such prayer?

The prayer WAS brilliant. Not only does he pray for the unborn, he deals with the gay and same-sex marriage issue when he refers to the pursuit of happiness. He asks for grace that Americans would choose “wisely” this fall....and then ends it with numerous refernces to God - One nation under God, in God we Trust, God bless America.

Then, after all the bad publicity, they caved.
And the coup de grace, his prayer shames them and they attack him revealing the utter void of their hearts.

By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems. The father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.
Many people are very, very concerned with the children of India, with the children of Africa where quite a few die of hunger, and so on. Many people are also concerned about all the violence in this great country of the United States. These concerns are very good. But often these same people are not concerned with the millions who are being killed by the deliberate decision of their own mothers. And this is what is the greatest destroyer of peace today - abortion which brings people to such blindness.
It was not that many years ago that blasphemous insults aimed at God and Christ were met with embarrassment for the blasphemer. Now, such devilish filth is cheered, hailed as ‘hip’, to use an old fashioned word.
Yes. That was a marvelous occasion. And Peggy Noonan’s editorial describing what happened marked the height of her career. From there, regretably, Noonan went downhill. But her piece describing that prayer breakfast was absolutely wonderful—partly, of course, because Mother Teresa gave her the words to work with.

I’ve watched Stephen Colbert - maybe twice. I’m not a fan. But there are times when Joh Stewart deals with issues in ways that are so honest that he’s almost fair to us. Then again I don’t watch him that often - too much liberal garbage to wade through - too much effort. Here’s a link - might help explain what I’m trying to say.

He's a loathsome Israel-hater, Christian-hater, conservative-hater, really everybody-who-isn't-an-urban-gay-progressive hater...and he's very effective at what he does. He even has a lot of conservatives who like him. But I don't think he's going to be as effective this time around.
