MTV has moved up the start of its annual Video Music Awards so its fans won't have to choose between pop stars such as Taylor Swift and President Barack Obama.
The show is airing Thursday, the night Mr. Obama accepts the Democratic nomination for another term as president. But MTV said it will run the show an hour earlier than it usually does to avoid conflict with Mr. Obama's speech.

Nothing surprising. They do this for the State of the Union too (move around tv shows).
Whew!! Thank God!! I was afraid i was going to miss it! its the highlight of the season!
They sure would not move the time of the show for a GOP candidate....or even moreso a Conservative candidate.
Of course, the MTV would rather watch their whatever fave artist than Obama

MTV used to actually used to have a “up yours” persona years ago. Now they are a bunch of P-whipped Dems.
...the same reason the Giants / Cowboys game was played last night instead of tonight.
Fortunately in a 300 channel universe you should have plenty of baseball, old movies, or endless reality shows set in pawn shops as alternatives to Barry’s speech.
