Democrats Say We All Belong To Government Now
IBD EDITORIALS ^ | September 5, 2012

Charlotte: A video shown at the Democratic National Convention proclaims "government is the only thing we all belong to." No wonder the Dem platform, like our president, doesn't mention our rights come from our Creator.

In a night of revealing tributes, speeches and videos, this particular one stands out because it so perfectly embodies the overarching philosophy of the administration — that government is the entity from which all blessings flow and that should command our unquestioning obedience.

The Democrats say, well, it was produced by the Charlotte host committee, not us — also typical of an administration that takes responsibility for nothing and gives credit to nobody except itself. It was an obvious response to the Republican convention theme, "We built It," which was itself a response to President Obama's off-teleprompter remark telling small business owners and entrepreneurs, "You didn't build that."

Dan Murrey, the executive director of the Charlotte 2012 Host Committee, said in an emailed statement: "The 'Welcome to Charlotte' video was solely produced and paid for by the Host Committee's New American City Fund, which promotes the city of Charlotte and welcomes our guests. The intent of this video was to tell the story of this region, and it is completely unaffiliated with the Obama campaign or the Democratic National Committee."

If you believe that, we have a Chevy Volt to sell you as soon as the production line, shut down for a second time this year, reopens. Chicago Mayor and former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel reminded convention goers that Osama bin Laden is dead and Government Motors is alive. He didn't explain why the undermanned police force in his murder-ridden city could afford to send 50 cops to Charlotte.

Emanuel also said Obama was a "once-in-a generation" president.

They vilify and demonize entire groups of people.
They glorify the government and say the people belong to it.
They openly show hatred for God (theirs is the state)
They openly hate Israel and Jews and free markets
.... oh and they like to call others NAZI’s.

Think about it

Everybody hates me. Christians hate me because I’m an Agnostic, Atheists hate me because I’m an Agnostic, Democrats hate me because I’m a strict-constructionist conservative, Republicans hate me because I’m a strict-constructionist conservative, collectivists hate me because I’m an individual...I bet Ayn Rand would like me, though, and that’s what keeps me going.

Emanuel also said Obama was a "once-in-a generation" president.

That had better be all that he is!

We can't afford ANOTHER term of HIM in ANY generation!

"Christians don’t hate Agnostic’s. Pity perhaps, but hate?"

Some of them can be pretty severe from my experience. But beyond that, did you catch my original point?

Like Martin Luther King, I always dreamed of the opportunity to be owned by others. Why in the world would I want to be free when I can be owned by government employees???!!!

It’s makes sense now why the Liberals have made people who advocate for the constitution domestic terrorists. It like trying to steal the government’s property.

Does that mean we are now all W.O.G.S.?

It’s been that way for a while. The 14th Amendment subverted state citizenship, the 16th Amendment re-instituted slavery, and the crushing national debt has chained us and our future generations to forever live under the thumbs of our federal masters.

Funniest post[s] of the day!
Romney is a Stateist, no way he's going to cut-down or significantly-restrict government. {There may be token gestures, but nothing significant.}

Could the addition of Rep. Ryan be so that HE will keep AN EYE on Romney to stay on the straight and narrow? Would not surprise me.

It would surprise me. The Republican party has shown that they have no intention of limiting government power. Elsewise would they have endorsed the Patriot Act, or the NDAA that destroyed Habeus Corpus, or expanded government, operation without budgets?

Nay, they-as-a-party are not about responsibility or accountability in governance.

That can all be taken care of once Obama is OUT. Right now we have to get Obama out of the White House.

No, it can't. Congress is the entity that makes those laws and establishes these agencies; the President can't uncontestedly do a whole lot other than direct punishment of government agents breaking the law [there's a lot of that, but everyone in government is looking the other way] -- the President could, arguably, dissolve government agencies deeming them to be contrary to the Constitution (however, if he did that then by all rights he should push for every member therein to be charged with the felony of conspiracy against rights or deprivation of rights under color of law)... now, honestly, what are the odds of Romney pushing for the dissolution and prosecution of the entire ATF? The Republican party as a whole?

Your justification of "we need to get Obama out!" relies on the assumption that the President has such powers as he legitimately does not.

Yes, I agree with you on who is responsible for what in regards to government, but RIGHT NOW, the PRIORITY HAS to be to get Obama OUT, PERIOD.

As I said, there will be a time and a place to get the needed work done, but PRIORITY #1 is get Obama OUT.
