Fox News's Juan Williams Calls Ann Romney a 'Corporate Wife'

(CNSNews.com) - As part of its Tuesday night convention coverage, Fox News assembled a panel of political analysts to discuss Ann Romney's speech. Charles Krauthammer called it a "triumph," and Brit Hume said it was "the single most effective political speech I’ve ever heard given by a political wife."

But their fellow panelist Juan Williams -- a Democrat -- panned Mrs. Romney's effort to connect with women, describing her as a "corporate wife" whose claim to understand the struggles of American women fell flat.

"Ann Romney ... looked to me like a corporate wife. The stories she told about struggles — eh! It's hard for me to believe. I mean, she's a very rich woman, and I know that, and America knows that."

Well, I guess Juan Williams agrees that corporations are people, as only people can take wives.

(NB: CORPORATION comes from Latin CORPUS, CORPORIS, meaning “body”)

"Fox brings him and people like Alan Colmes in to maintain their “fair and balanced” slogan."

That belief is quite naive. I believe that Colmes is brought forth simply to make liberals look absurd. I can finally stand to watch him now that I know how much he discredits the liberals. Everyone can serve a purpose. My hat is off to Roger Ailes.

We are seeing signs of desperation from the leftist media everywhere we look today.

First, MSNBC saw fit to block viewers from seeing the speeches of the prominent minorities-a clear sign of malicious intent combined with fear.

Then, the NYT editorial board decided that Ann Romney’s speech somehow “slipped the knife” to the Obama campaign. We should take this as an understated compliment, as Ann Romney never mentioned Obama. What she did was make feminist women wonder about their support for the government as husband. No small thing, that, and the left should be afraid.

Then Juan Williams with his “corporate wife” description, which I believe he felt he had to do because he sensed the power of Ann Romney’s speech.

Desperation. That’s what we’re seeing.

Unlike a wife who through Affirmative Action and Chicago Thuggism got a 300k no show job at a hospital in exchange for political favors.

Yup, nothing to see here. Move on.

re: Juan only understands one thing. She is white.

Yeah, that and that she is a Republican. I am sure that he thought Teresa Heinz Kerry was not only ok but wonderful! No comments on her wealth making her far removed from the masses.

Juan is despicable.

Quite apart from the illnesses with which Ann has had to contend, the Romneys were not always wealthy. Mitt gave away his inheritance. He really is a self-made man. Liberals look at a man like Mitt or a woman like Ann and presume they have always had it easy, a presumption that is frequently untrue. Although Mrs. p. henry and I are nowhere near the Romneys in terms of wealth, fools like Juan might look at Mrs. p. and call her a corporate wife. When I met her, Mrs. p was a single mom of three working her fanny off. She still works very hard notwithstanding health issues. I have been part of the workforce for 45 years. In my early days, some of those jobs were menial and not very pleasant. Liberals don’t see that. All they see is the present condition of someone like Mitt Romney. They don’t see the hard path that got him there.

Juan Williams is a multimillionaire and he's been married for a long time to the same woman. I assume he takes good care of his wife so his complaints about Mrs. Romney ring hollow.

I can tolerate hearing lefty opinion if it's presented even somewhat rationally, but Williams has moved from left field to the bleacher seats. He's become obnoxious and annoying. Begone.

Go back to PBS Juan...

Ann Romney is more real than the free loader that is in Washington now..I doubt she will have to take a vacation on our money like the loon that takes one once a week..I will be so glad when that free loader packs her bags and heads on her last vacation back to Chicago..Or are they moving back to Africa..

In my parent's generation (I'm 54) the term Corporate Wife had a specific meaning. It meant a woman who was stuck with the role of supporting her husband's attempt to climb the corporate ladder in large companies. It required an awful lot of hard work, whether in entertaining the boss, coordinating the multiple times the family had to move to accommodate promotions and the need to take on most of the parenting responsibilities since Dad was working late, taking clients out to dinner and someone had to watch the kids as they participated in outside activities.

The early feminists HATED that role, and it was the main impetus behind the earliest feminist movement. For Juan to use that term is frankly similar to the type of racial tone that the left uses against us. Trying to intimate that ‘welfare moms’ is code or ‘food stamp president’ is code for racism is the left’s attempt to argue against us when facts are inconvenient. Now Juan is seeing that the role can be reversed and he will likely hear about this comment as long as Obama hears about ‘you didn't build this’.

As as we USED to say: hoisted on one’s own petard!

Does Juan Williams have a problem with relating to white women?
His comments degrade the debate from any discussion of the issues and into pile on personal invective. Would Mr. Williams think it fair if someone would call him, Mr. Williams, a shallow liberal puppet? Would Mr. Williams see such a charge. directed at him, as a serious part of the issues facing the nation?
