“Huckabee is the devious creep propping up this fool to stay in the race and DO MORE DAMAGE. Is Huckabee trying to destroy Ryan/ Romney chances in 2012 for his own run in 2016 ????? “
Don’t see you whining about how Romney and his team helped destroy McCain/Palin’s chances in 08 so they could have their chance in 2012.
But as for Akin. He’s a CONSERVATIVE. LOOK AT HIS RECORD. LOOK AT HIS COMMENTS. You’re buying into the leftist and GOPe propaganda which is determined to screw this guy over so badly that there is NO CHANCE any GOP candidate will win the seat against the Dems. And you know what? I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the point. Rove and the rest don’t want actual reform. They want to work with Dems to push through their agenda with some cover.
Perkins also sent out a blast e-mail last night noting that the GOP has stood by moderates in the past and therefore Singling out Todd suggests a double standard, designed to drive out social conservatives. Why are heavy hitters like him and Huckabee ready to fight and die on Magic Uterus Hill when theres overwhelming bipartisan disgust at Akin for what he said? This writer is a pig! I hate talk like this. You won't catch phraseology like this coming out of the mouths of Perkins, Huckabee or Akin.
Oh no, not yet another negative post. People, for the love of all that is sacred, get a firm grip and stop already.
It’s a bit strange to see so many conservatives falling in the face of pressure from the left. Did somebody use hypnosis again?
There’s nothing wrong with Akin. We should be circling the wagons, supporting him more than ever.
Folks, don’t let your minds be defeated by political correctness.
Huckabee didn’t hurt us in 2008, he helped us.
This whole Akin thing is just nuts. He is pro-life but not worthy of office, PERIOD. Huck needs to shut up and go away. Talk about a fungus. UGH!
The crash on Wall Street and McCain's reaction to it and the fact he did not FIGHT Obama caused him to LOSE !
He gave up real quick and kept millions in donations for his senate race !!!!!!!
This fool is Not the only pro life option in MO !
Get over it.
This delusional fool is selfish, greedy, and destructive.
Troll —> RaisingCain
Nobody is harming the GOP more than the clowns who insist on claiming Akin is harming the GOP.
My senate candidate’s “stupid” comment is his desire to overturn the 17th amendment. However I happen to agree with him but he’s not even saying he would try. Debbie Stabenow is screaming bloody murder over it.
Who the heck is Perkins .Tony Perkins heads up Family Research Council.
For what its worth-the author is also an atheist Palin hater.
Clair McCaskill thanks you for your undying support to her campaign. With your help, she’s well on the way to reelection.
Not that I’m any fan of huckster.
Huckster did the same trick in 2008....he too is a self-centered useful idiot
Quite right. Nothing at all wrong with the guy, except that he can't win, period. Why is every Democrat on the planet support Akin? Because they have figured out what you can't: He will not beat McCaskill.
No, but Huckabee isn’t a coldhearted political consultant. He bases his decisions based on Christian values and principles, not on “ends justifying the means.” Just the same as Mike Gallagher and Steve Deace, who are also supporting Akin on their radio shows.
The most important and meaningful event in years for conservatives was the Chick-fil-A appreciation day he organized, one RINO losers like Romney ignored.
that’s right he gave us McShame......
Perkin’ group is the organization targetted by the same-sex-marriage-supporting terrorist gunman last week.
And, why isn't that happening? Is it the Romney wing of the party at work trying to crush social conservatism within the party?
we have a very dangerous people in the WH and running the senate .
we don't need fools too clueless to fold their cards after
THEY shot off their mouth and wiped out their own chances.
the guy needs to show some class and exit quietly not crying and blaming everyone for HIS DIRECT ACTIONS. Man up and leave. And we do not need Huckster playing games either.
“Devious” does not begin to describe the mischief that has been wrought in recent days, first with a Senatorial candidate who made a double gaffe on the air, with almost a single breath, then proceeded to double down on the damage already done, by neither admitting ignorance, nor by exhibiting any sort of humility for what was, for a short time anyway, only a misuse of a single word.
Rape is never “legitimate”, there is only one word that accurately describes this act of personal terrorism, and that is “forcible”. Nothing legitimate about that sort of trauma at all. Rape is an assault, a physical battering, with intent to do sufficient bodily harm so submission becomes the only alternative offered. The rapist relies on greater physical strength and the relative lack of will on the part of the victim to exert dominance. Ugly any way you look at it, rape is form of sexual bullying that is wrong on so many levels.
That objection aside, the reliance on some long-abandoned medical theory, that the female endocrine system somehow makes it impossible for the fertilized ovum to implant is the female is subjected to severe physical trauma, has been disproven over and over, long before this postulate was ever raised. There is roughly the same probablity that fertilization will take place, and the fertilized egg will implant, after a rape as after consensual union without all the trauma.
Now, the argument is made, to terminate a pregnancy after the act of forcible rape, is that just, right or even to be considered? There are so many variables here, it is hard to come with a “one-rule” answer. The liberals have had a easy answer (for them), ever since the right to abortion on demand was authorized by judicial decree, but nowhere is there any record of any such law being determined by public acceptance, through representative voting on the virtues or the ethical wrongness of such a blanket permission.
In his head, this may be the point that Todd Akin was trying to make, but he either cannot or will not articulate it, and falls back on his “strong Christian belief” as support, no logic allowed.
Therefore, it becomes a mission from God to stand or fall on this one postulate, and everything else just gets lost in the smoke and ruin that is left in its aftermath.
While all this as an admirable goal, as seen in the abstract, it only diminishes the larger effort here. People who should know better get swept up in the passion of the moment, and if the game doesn’t go their way, they will just scoop up all their marbles and go home.
That strategy for getting your way wore thin at about the age of six.
If Missouri folks vote for McCaskill it will become the “Eat Me” state.
There hasn't been a more meaningful show of conservatism in years than the one Huckabee organized in support of Chick-fil-A.
Huckabee didn’t give us anything, Fred Thompson started to late to defeat McCain.
Then find one just as strong of a replacement or watch the grassroots rally around Akin.
He was the devious slug who cut off everyone elses chances to stop McCain in 2008 .
He is Elmer Gantry without the good hair.
The cartoon ought to be about Romney. Since you have grown to love him, you’ll learn to like Akin, too.
I used to say that the Huckster was Bill Clinton with his zipper up. But it has become apparent that I was unfair. To the Toon.
The only people hurting republican chances are republicans themselves.
This is what the democrats did to the republicans in August of 2012.
Don’t forget that GrandMa at a townhall that told McLame that she didn’t trust that Obama he is a Arab/Moslem (Wahabbi) and then McStain ripping the microphone from her hands, trying his best to keep from pushing her back in her seat as his natural desire, as he vigorously shook his head ‘no-no-no ma’am’... he is a decent man...no-ma’am.
"There were talking point memos sent from the National Republican Senatorial Committee suggesting language to urge Akin to drop out. Political consultants were ordered to stay away from Akin or lose future business with GOP committees. Operatives were recruited to set up a network of pastors to call Akin to urge him to get out. Money has changed hands to push him off the plank."
Shame on you, Mike Huckabee, forcing those poor GOP operatives do these things! /s
So he is no great republican.
He is a greedy and power hungry fool that does not have the class or decency to quit.
He is responsible for this mess and only he can shut it down.
But he is a cry baby and delusional
Everybody in the 2008 primary knew Huckabee was a liberal. Him trying to step in to Missouri politics is more of the same. We are trying to get rid of socialist policies not tilt at windmills. I would love to place a God-fearing right-wing economic radical in every Congressional, Supreme Court, Executive and Bureaucratic position, but thats not going to happen. No General goes into a battle thinking there are going to be 0 causalties. You have determine the whole battlefield. The Akin Brigade is toast.
Perkin group is the organization targetted by the same-sex-marriage-supporting terrorist gunman last week. It's good he spoke out too. It seems a great divide is taking place in this nation. For life... OR... against it. I haven't yet found one 100% pro-lifer (meaning someone who stands up for the child resulting from rape as well) that's backed Akin's dismissal.
I think you missed my point. BTW, Fred Thompson was a stalking horse for McLame.
Freerepublic endorsed Huckabee after Thompson dropped out, who did he cut off?
For what its worth-the author is also an atheist Palin hater. Thanks! He must not have very many female fans. Even liberal women don't like their body parts mentioned in "amusing" ways. Well, most don't.
I said it before. I will say it again. This is a full blown 21st century LYNCHING. It is sickening and the mob is winning.
McCaskill spent a million and a half to help Akin win the primary. She wants to run against him.
Crossroads spent a hefty amount itself, far more than clairebear. She has played reverse psychchology here. He is/was not as weak as how he is being presented here, and its nuts.
Hes proven himself to handle the spotlight very poorly.
Evidently, he has handled himself in and OUT of the spotlight for lo these many years...and quite well it would seem.
Missouri House of Representatives
Akin was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in November 1988, running unopposed to represent District 85 which included Town and Country and much of West County. He won re-election in 1990 (59%), 1992 (100%), 1994 (70%), 1996 (67%), and 1998 (66%).
In 12 years in the state house, Akin voted for carrying concealed weapons, voted against the parks and soils sales tax, voted against the 1993 tax increase and education spending increase. Akin sponsored legislation to prohibit casino companies from contributing to Missouri state lawmakers. In 1995, he fought Democrat Governor Mel Carnahan on state-funding for abortion, which Akin opposed.
He was a member of the House Ways and Means Committee.
U.S. House of RepresentativesAkin is listed in the House roll as R-St. Louis. The likely reason is that many areas in the St. Louis County portion of the district, including one of his district offices, have St. Louis addresses, even though the district does not include any part of the city of St. Louis itself.
In 2000, Republican U.S. Representative Jim Talent vacated the seat in his unsuccessful run for Governor of Missouri. Akin won a closely contested Republican primary election to replace Talent, defeating former St. Louis County Executive Gene McNary and State Senator Franc Flotron. He defeated Democratic State Senator Ted House in the general election, winning 55 percent of the vote. He never faced another contest even that close, and was reelected five times.
In 2010, Akin won re-election with 67.9% of the vote. He had been challenged for the seat by Democratic nominee Arthur Lieber, Libertarian nominee Steve Mosbacher, and write-in candidate Patrick M. Cannon.
Todd Akin voted for Paul Ryans FY 2012 budget, which would restructure Medicare.
Akin is an outspoken opponent of abortion in all cases, including health reasons or in cases of rape or incest. He opposes embryonic stem cell research, is a supporter of the right to keep and bear arms, and is generally opposed to increases in taxation and spending. As a U.S. Representative, he has continued to support these views, earning a 96% rating from the American Conservative Union in 2008, and 100% in 2007. Akin has an A rating from the National Rifle Association.
Akin is a staunch advocate of a federal prohibition of online poker. In 2006, he co-sponsored H.R. 4411, the Goodlatte-Leach Internet Gambling Prohibition Act, and H.R. 4777, the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act.
Akin has spent significant time working on military and veterans issues. On the House Armed Services Committee he currently serves as the Chairman of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, which handles all Navy and Air Force issues. In the past he has served as Ranking Republican on the Seapower Subcommittee and the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. Akin has also introduced a number of veterans-related bills, most notably the Open Burn Pit Registry Act, which creates a registry for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who were exposed to burn pits.
Committee on Armed Services
Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces
Subcommittee on Seapower and Expeditionary Forces (Chairman)
Committee on the Budget
Committee on Science, Space and Technology
Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics
Subcommittee on Energy and Environment
Republican Study Committee
TEA PARTY CAUCUS
You see why they want him gone?
I believe what we are watching is nothing compared to what McCaskills oppo research has compiled. When its too late, and all the deadlines are past, I think she will unload years of Akinisms that may be as bad or worse than what hes currently backpedaling from. And you can bet some will dovetail nicely with the national War on Women.
And what do you think would happen with ANY staunchly prolife CONSERVATIVE candidate, which Akin obviously IS?

I was so disgusted when I found out he had stashed Presidential campaign money and used it for his Senate seat. Mr. McAmnesty was all about cracking down on illegal immigration as well during the Senate campaign. Wasnt 2008 fun? How we could not mention the middle name of THE ONE without being called racist ? Ah, good times, eh?
I get a kick out of this criticism. And the motivation behind her ads was?
Is Claire McCaskill helping Todd Akin in the GOP primary?
To conservatives, McCaskill's "criticisms" in the Akin commercial sound more like compliments: that he opposes big government and wants to cut the federal departments of energy and education; and that he has been hotly critical of Obama.
At one point, the ad makes an allegation that sounds as if it could be on an Akin bumper sticker: "Todd's pro-family agenda would outlaw many forms of contraception."
The ad closes with the narrator speaking words that are shown on the screen next to Akin: "Missouri's TRUE conservative ..." Only after a pause does the rest of the phrase come up: "...is just TOO conservative."
Akin is a nice guy, good conservative. But, he cannot win this election and it’s his own fault. He opened his mouth and stuck both feet in.
No problem, conservatives in Missouri are a dime a dozen and almost anyone of them can beat McCaskill which is the one thing that Akin cannot do.
He’s just not that important, certainly not more important than the country and it’s fair to say that control of the Senate is a matter of great importance to the country. Ranting on like Akin is the next Barry Goldwater is just silly, before he opened his mouth he was hardly known outside his district.
The unwillingness of Conservatives to do what it takes to beat these despicable Democrats is unbelievable. Do you really enjoy being a loser?
I’m sure that you have been a true Conservative all of your life. Amazing how you are so in synch with Senator McCaskill.
