MISSOURI: THE 'SHOW ME ANOTHER G.O.P. CANDIDATE' STATE
AnnCoulter.com ^ | August 22, 2012 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 08/23/2012 12:59:59 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Akin was not even the clear choice of conservatives. In the primary, John Brunner was endorsed by both Missouri Right to Life and the National Right to Life. Sarah Steelman was endorsed by Sarah Palin. Akin was endorsed by the Democratic Party.

The Democrats carefully nurtured Akin with millions of dollars in campaign money because he was the candidate they most wanted to run against. (Akin thinks all those Democrats voting for him in the primary merely shows that he's got tremendous crossover appeal!)

There's no rehabilitating this guy. It's a waste of money. His comments are going to cost Republicans an easy Senate seat in a moment of crisis for the nation. This one man's stubborn refusal to bow out could cost us control of the U.S. Senate, House seats in Missouri, Senate seats elsewhere and maybe even the White House itself.

Other than that, there's not all that much riding on this.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

But this selfish man has decided to play a game of chicken with the Republican Party. He thinks that by stubbornly refusing to step aside, Republicans will be forced to give him money simply because they need that Senate seat.

Republicans should call his bluff. This is no time to be counting on people to check the FEC reports to see that the GOP has cut off his money.

By your deeds and actions you have helped McKatKiller’s campaign

Your right. WILLIALAL personally called all the registered voters in Missouri to make sure Akin would drop 20 points in <5 days.

Nobody drops 20 points in < 5 days unless the vast majority of voters see one of the candidates is unfit, a Webster's Dictionary definition idiot, clueless or all the above.

There is such a thing as a strategic retreat, esp. when the republicans have other, more worthy candidates not supported by the democrats.

Please tell us that you do not teach political science.

I understand it, but you are talking with your heart and not your head. The media and the RATS are going to carry this to November. Because you close your eyes and make a wish that it will go away is not going to make it happen.

“There is such a thing as a strategic retreat, esp. when the republicans have other, more worthy candidates not supported by the democrats.”

We have a number of better candidates than Akin.

muleskinner, thanks for the recognition of my limited influence over voters here in Mo.
some people just need to see the light.

The problem is that at this CRITICAL point in our nation's history, we have no margin for screw-ups like Akin.

Akin boasted about his fundraising as a message to "party bosses" who want him out of the race, but the message from the polling numbers is louder: McCaskill looks to be winning.

http://news.yahoo.com/mccaskill-polls-10-points-ahead-akin-despite-fundraising-151902739.html

If we don't get a majority in the Senate, Obamacare, with its abortion provisions, contraception funding and death panels will become the law of the land. Our families will be living under socialized medicine. And Akin doesn't seem to care. Instead, it's all about his foolish ambition.

Missouri is likely lost regardless of what he does. Time to focus on the other states where there is still a chance.

Show me another conservative author that doesn’t have an abnormally large Adam’s apple, doesn’t look like a man in drag, hasn’t been a cheerleader for Romney and hasn’t been on the board of GOProud!

Anyone think McCaskill is paying this guy to stay in the race? It sure would be cheaper than running campaign ads against him.

“If the runner up isn’t first to be picked, they deserve to lose, as they will, big time.

The thing is that the runner-up, John Brunner, has his own problems, including a tax issue. In addition, Todd Akin is known to dislike Brunner and might stay in the race if he thinks that Brunner will be chosen if Akin withdraws.

“Ann, that’s crazy, drunk & fasting talk. Put down the scotch and smokes and eat something.”

Amen! Ann Coulter is just another country club elitist GOP establishment type. She has made a fortune off of fooling folks into believing she is conservative. She writes as a “conservative” because that is the market gullible enough to read her. She is a fraud. The biggest indicator of this is her support of Romney. The very biggest fraud of the GOP establishment.

Ann really needs to shut up and go away. She is passe except to the gullible.

There is a way around this. The Tea Party org(s) in MO should field and register on the ballot an “independent” or a “Conservative” or “Tea Party” candidate, who is not subject to the “sore loser” rule - Ann Wagner would be a good choice - as soon as possible.

Akin doesn’t have to “officially” drop out of the race as a Republican candidate, which could be costly and difficult since it’s subject to court’s approval.

With Akin poll numbers dropping like a stone, he could “legitimately” unofficially “withdraw” from the race by announcing that he is not actively seeking office (and/or “endorse” a TP candidate, if it’s deemed not to be a liability.) When other respectable pro-life figures endorse the new candidate locally and in conservative media and blogosphere, the successful “replacement” of the Republican candidate with a conservative candidate. Party affiliation can be changed after election, if needed.

But this needs to be done ASAP, to prevent the GOPe from fielding their own “independent” candidate (they already had a trial balloon with Jo Ann Emerson) which would split the conservative vote with TP candidate and fubar the entire election once again.

“Do you know with 100% certainty that McKatKiller will beat Akin? All of the bickering about Akin dropping out is playing into the hands of the Dems. Akin is a true conservative, of the likes the GOPe hates because they are now the Dims. Soon enough you will see NO differnce in party but only the name.”

Yes indeed, and the Tea Party is just fiscally conservative democrats. They are becoming as bad as the GOP establishment. Social conservatives have NEVER really been welcome in the GOP.....we SOCONs are to the GOP what Blacks are to the DEMS. We are to be seen not heard....just be sure to vote the way the GOPe tells you!

I thought the Tea Party had evolved into SOCONs, but I see now this is NOT the case. Many SOCONs are part of the Tea Party, but the Tea Party is socially conservative....they just want lower taxes...which is OK, but NOT enough in itself to move America in a healthy direction.

The deadline for getting a third-party candidate on the ballot is past. The only way to promote an alternate candidate while Akin’s name remains on the ballot would be as a write-in. The only name with any chance at that would be Kit Bond, but even that is a longshot.

Organizers say 5,000-person march set for RNC first day - respect “diversity of tactics”
St. Petersburg - Tampa Bay Times ^ | August 23, 2012 | Richard Danielson

Posted on Thursday, August 23, 2012 5:38:53 AM by Cincinatus’ Wife

An alliance of more than 60 labor, peace, student, immigrant rights, gay and lesbian and other groups says it’s ready for a 5,000-person march on the first day of the Republican National Convention.

“There will be nothing that will stop us from marching in the streets to demand good jobs, health care, affordable education, equality and peace and to oppose the party of legitimate rape,” said Corey Uhl of the local chapter of Students for a Democratic Society.

...........Protesters are expected to come on buses from as far away as New York, Minnesota, Illinois and the state of Washington, organizers say. The crowd could include more than 700 college students. A member of Occupy Wall Street is expected to arrive with three busloads of demonstrators.

Thanks. I thought that September 25 was the deadline.

TP still should have a candidate ready, as an alternative to the GOPe candidate, in case Akin and Huckabee wing can be reasoned with that he has no chance of winning and that by stepping down sooner, the GOPe will not replace him with an “establishment” candidate, and that he will do himself, his family and his political/earning viability if he does the right thing now.

I think they might prefer that to the “Karl Rove candidate.”

I thought that September 25 was the deadline.

That's a different deadline, i.e., the one for Akin to get a court order to withdraw.

Helped a wounded warrior vs. leaving him to die alone? Where is the honor in this?

More like an infantry officer who shoots himself in the foot before the battle, but insists on leading the charge against the enemy anyway, turning a deaf ear to his soldiers' pleas to give the job to one of his non-wounded, non-bleeding, provenly competent, accident-free junior officers. Where is the honor in his refusing this?
