Former U.S. Army soldier Wade Page opened fire with a 9mm handgun at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on August 5, murdering six people and critically wounding three before killing himself during a shootout with police.

As far as I’m concerned, the skinhead/neo-Nazi types should be put against a wall and shot. But it’s only the white racists the media cares about. They never talk about racist black and Hispanic gang members who join to get the training.

We had a Nazi in the cycle ahead of us at Basic Combat Training, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, back in the Summer of 1978. They kept him busy painting murals in the orderly/arms room while he waited for his bad conduct discharge. We’d see him every time we went to get our M-16s. Not a new thing.
Hassan has not even gone to trial for “workplace violence” yet!

He was in the Army for six years, and was kicked out 15 years ago.
So what is the rationale for making his line of work 15 years ago the Homeric epithet used to describe him?
Why is "former soldier" the default description, as if somehow it is the most important fact about him?
If he had just exited the service it might make some sense, but 15 years ago?
