This year’s political season is yielding more than just heated debate in Atmore, including jail time for two women caught allegedly stealing campaign signs along Martin Luther King Avenue and Ashley Street Monday night.

Crenishia Antoinette Bosby, 24, of Fairhope, and Jawada Marquetta Bosby, 31, of Daphne, were taken into custody by Atmore police officers and agents with the 21st Judicial Drug Task force at approximately 8:45 p.m. after being pulled over on Ashley Street. The pair was also found with a 12-year-old minor and a .25 caliber handgun in the vehicle.

For the complete story on Monday night’s arrests, see the Wednesday, Aug. 22 edition of The Atmore Advance.

Allegedly?  What's in question here?  Is there a possibility those signs in the vehicle just climbed on board as the family drove past?

Okay, 93% completed.  Thanks for the help folks.  If you haven't already, please click below and pencil yourself in.

As Chris Rock once said, “If you’re new in town and don’t know where to score some drugs, just ask for directions to MLK Avenue. There’s one in every city.”............

In the age of U-toob I never take the chance (not that I haven’t been tempted a time or two).

I’ve worked on sign campaigns for the last four election cycles. Because you’re out in the same environment as your opponents the chance of getting caught - just like these two broads did - is increased.

In 2010 I was working on a campaign to unseat a state senator. We had identified all the “good” spots to place signs and encountered the inevitable “signage warz” that happen when you plant a sign and your opponent puts one up immediately in front of it (or just rips yours down and puts theirs up).

In one location passersby had torn down ALL of them regardless of party and we had just arrived to set ours back up when the senator herself (along with her husband) stormed into the parking lot and accused us of doing the damage. Fortunately I had photo-documented the scene showing everybody’s signs down - including ours - and invited the senator to kiss my ass.

Ultimately we documented HER HUSBAND damaging signs and won the election.

The biggest shock here is that there may have been Republican oriented campaign signs posted on Martin Luther King ave.

I for one think that the Democrats may be losing a big piece of the black vote, and they can't see it coming. Gay marriage and immigration doesn't sit well with blacks. They still will win the majority of the black vote, but the Dems are in for a surprise when they see how that majority has shrunk. Also a lot of blacks are planning on sitting out this year, which is the first step to switching parties for good.

someone planting steel wire signs into the public highway shoulder lawn is...in my opinion...LITTERING.

I just clean up after the miscreants.

So, where’s the linky to the August 22nd story?

Why would a newspaper post a story, then state you can read the rest of this in 2 days? Weird...

We need more arrests like this. I think election sign thefts have become common.

I sure hope you are right, but I wouldn't underestimate the deep-seated power of tribalism.

He’s a Super-Lib, so I’m tempted to put up a Romney sign in my front yard, along with a camera, just to see if he tries to repeat his little shenanigan this year.

Using rubber gloves, crush several leaves of poison ivey between your palms. Smear both faces of the sign.
