Akin Tells Hannity That Romney Exploited Rape Statement Controversy For Political Gain
Mediate ^ | Tuesday August 21, 2012

Appearing on Sean Hannity’s radio program for the second time in as many days, Missouri Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin attacked the GOP’s presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, for joining a chorus of Republicans asking him to withdraw from the race. Akin said that Romney had blown the controversy out of proportion and implied that he had done so for his own political gain.

Hannity asked Akin, given the number of prominent Republican politicians asking Akin to drop out including Romney, if he is even pausing to consider leaving the Senate race in Missouri.

“Let me ask you this,” Akin began. “If you were in Romney’s position, don’t you think that he may have bid this thing up and made a bigger deal about it than he needed to?”

“Why couldn’t he run his race and I run mine,” asked Akin. “If things really look like they’re getting in trouble in Missouri than maybe — but he has just assumed.”

If the State level committee gets involved I can understand that, but not liking the pile on nationally. The Missouri voters should not be marginalized. We live in a representative democracy, or so I thought.

“Akin or Romney, who is worse?”

Yes, who is worse, the true conservative or the “severely conservative” politician.

If it p***es off Sean Vannity and Mittens, it can’t be all that bad to stay.

The only pol who wants him to stay in is Claire McCaskill.

Actually, Rush has never been one to circle the wagons and defend the indefensible. Ever.

He tells the truth, and calls em like he sees em.

For example, from his transcript today:

Akin’s Remark was Stupid and Untrue — Now He Must Put the Nation’s Future First

Come on, now. Everyone knows Rush is a RINO. sarc/

The worst is the “severely brain-dead, holier-than-thou, Conservative” politician who does not know when to keep his ignorant mouth shut.

Methinks this guy isn't as dumb as the geniuses in the media are making him out to be.

Well, if you’re gonna stand with the idiot, at least know what his name is. It’s Akin.... not Akins.

someone will call Allen a RINO next or call him abortion loving

No, but he should know better, having been on the receiving end of an attack like this based on a stupid gaffe.

I'm sure glad the GOP and people here on FR are doing the old circular firing-squad thing over Akin. At this point, they're the only ones keeping this story alive. Even my liberal Facebook friends have moved off of this meme by now.

Most? Palin and Newt haven't weighed on it as far as I know.

You must have missed it... Sarah is even suggesting a 3rd party candidate to remedy this disaster....Here is the video

LOL, how I could miss it when my post was made hours before she came out with that interview? Her suggestion would be a disaster. It would split the vote and hand the seat to McCaskill.

It's not the way Jesus taught us to treat each other.

Yeah, but Akin is being as wise as a dove and as harmless as a serpent.

“Stupider than the day before. I’m starting to be convinced that he’s a Dem plant or a useful idiot...”

Idiot.
First, he is sincere.
Second, he *is* being used by the Democrats and anyone can see it. But apparently him and a coterie of true believers keep their eyes shut.

“What if the Tea Party took on its first challenge to run an independent, a la Murkowski?”

Two good ideas have been floated
1. Write-in campaign for Kit Bond. once Akin sees the writing on the wall, he withdraws and we will have ONE candidate again.
2. offer Akin to flip with Ann Wagner, in other words, she runs for senate and he runs for his old congressional seat. This way he doesng commit career hari kari.

False. In the primary, John Brunner was endorsed by both Missouri Right to Life and National Right to Life.
http://johnbrunner.com/brunner-on-the-issues-life/

Sarah Steelman was endorsed by Sarah Palin and right to life groups.

Yes, Akin is a conservative, but is also a guy with foot-in-mouth disease who needs to be put out to pasture before he infects other candidates and makes them lose their races as well.

“Try to do a little research. “ Irony!

Myth thought he could snap his fingers and make the conservative disappear. Not so, I guess. Rinos had best pick the dems as their enemy rather than conservatives or they are not going to control anything.

I have never heard them go after a dem like they went after this guy. I have heard them make a million excuses for radicals.

That’s okay. The GOP will spin it’s wheels until we pick them off election after election.
