Since PPP decided it can't help itself, I've done you all a service. I went through their ridiculous R+9 sample and ONLY changed the D/R/I proportions to match previous elections, and an even turnout. With R+9, PPP's headline screams Akin up by 1. It is an obvious, sick ploy to get this delusional Bio101 flunkie to stay in and cost us a seat.
Here are the real numbers: If turnout in November matches 2008 (it won't): McCaskill 49.25% Akin 39% (this is a D+6 turnout model)
If turnout in November is even, an incredible feat for the GOP considering heavy turnout in St Louis and Kansas City during an election year: McCaskill 47% Akin 40%.
If turnout in November matches the best we have ever seen in the state (R+3 during 2010): McCaskill 45% Akin 41%.
McCaskill is a dead duck if we dump Akin. The other candidates from the primary were crushing her up and down. To trail her by four in a best-case scenario is inexcusable at this point.
The fact that PPP had to triple the best R margin ever just to get Akin over McCaskill screams agenda polling, but they will never admit to that, so I'm calling them out on it, and it's time for you to spread the word. PPP's "Akin still leads" poll is garbage, the approval rating for Akin with this huge R spread is a God-awful 24%, and McCaskill hasn't cut one rape ad yet.
Akin. Must. Go.
Lots of noobs leading the charge to get rid of this guy.
Gee - a rank newbie doing us all a service. Who’d’a thunk it?
Somebody post the BullSh!t meter ....
He may be a newbie, but he has a point. The poll is hopelessly skewed, and we all know why.
Perhaps so, but I find it ironic that while everyone is hot to dump Akin because of one stupid comment, people nevertheless cling white-knuckled to Mitt Romney, who has two decades worth of statist policies and left-wing idiocy to his record.
If we’re so blithe to void the results of a primary and get rid of Akin, then why don’t we do the same to Romney and pick a better candidate who is more conservative and who can actually get the base behind him enthusiastically?
You should compare to 2010 election numbers, also..........
He did.
There are stupid comments, and then there are white-hot, surface of the sun type stupid comments. Expounding on the magical abilities of women's reproductive organs that can ward off "rape sperm" is thermonuclear hot stupid. Meta-stupid. So stupid to be so far off the chart it actually seems intelligent. There are some third-rails that are so toxic they don't even get talked about, and rape is one of them.
It's astounding to me a six-term Congressman failed to notice this salient fact.
A woman's body doesn't "shut down". It actually goes into overdrive!
stress hormones miscarriage cortisol
A pregnant woman under stress, and having a baby from an act of rape has to be (I'm not a woman so that's opinion) stressful on a woman, produces higher levels of cortisol which increases the risk of miscarriage.
Simply looking into this a little bit would reduce a lot of this mistaken commentary.
Look on the bright side - at least they didn’t catch him skinny dipping in the Sea of Galilee.
Rush also observed this PPP polling biases in trying to make it seem like Akin isn't toast. He is. He's done. It's over. The question now is: who will Akin take down with him?
Cripplecreek, you put one man above the election. You put one man above the issue. You put one man above the country.
You aren't the least bit bothered that you and Claire McCaskill are on the same page in wanting Akin to stay in the race.
You must want to lose since there are alternate candidates waiting in the wings, sharing the same values, but who can move the agenda forward because they're able to articulate it.
At this moment he's still in. It's clear now: Akin's as arrogant as he is ignorant.
Should he persist, when he loses it'll be everyone else's fault: it'll be dirty tricks from Rove and the eGOP, it'll be the enemdia, it'll be a hundred other lame excuses.
At this point the GOP is probably doing mare damage by desperately clinging to the issue than if they had let it die.
In the end, they’ll blame Aiken no matter what because that’s what cowards do.
I’m increasingly likely to tell the GOP to vigorously and legitimately rape themselves.
You can call for that. Nobody is denying your right to do so. Won't do any good so our best choice is to win the House and Senate to put brakes on Romney. This guy is toast. Whether Akin is right or wrong is not my issue. Tilting at windmills is for another time, another place.
I love Freudian typos.
