Good for you. I’d like to pick up a 45 next year. I’m not sure if it will be a Colt or a Ruger. I’m open to opinions...

i like my p345 a lot, haven’t fired my sp101 32 mag yet, i know i’ll like it also...

Well, they look nice.  Knowing Rugers are good weapons, that's an additional plus.

I'm more of a clip man myself.

If it's off-the-shelf, you owe it to yourself to look at Kimber and Springfield too. The Brazilian offerings seem to have significant features for the price but there have been some comments about heat treatment. Can't say as I have no access to proper equipment to test them.

For a few bucks more, consider a Caspian frame and slide with Ed Brown innards; mainspring housing, grip safety, trigger, and grips to fit you hand; sights for the intended purpose; and electroless nickel, industrial hard chrome, Black Ice or similar finish. Have your 'smith use the MacFarland slide fit procedure if you want good reliability with better than average accuracy.

Yea, a custom costs more up front, but when you start modifying a gun the dollars really flow.
