[Dem] Rep. Gauthier, 56, claims rest-stop oral sex with Craigslist boy, 17, was consensual

Rep. Kerry Gauthier, D-Duluth, won't face charges for having oral sex with a minor at the Thompson Hill rest stop near Duluth, but at the least he's revealed himself to be a dishonest person, lying to the 17-year-old about his age and to police about what exactly happened in the woods that night.
.
.
Gauthier, 56, was then a bit more forthcoming, telling the officer that he met the boy through an ad he posted on Craigslist. In the ad, Gauthier characterized himself as a 43-year-old looking for man-on-man sex with "no strings attached." His ad received a receptive reply from the unnamed 17-year-old, who allegedly told Gauthier he is 18. The dynamic duo agreed to meet at the Thompson Hill rest stop for sexual relations.

They met on July 22 and headed for the woods for fondling and a five-minute oral sex session. Spooked about the possibility of being busted, Gauthier and his boy tryst decided to end it there, and the whole incident might never have been publicized had it not been for the boy's decision to take a leak right next a couple eating dinner in a car. The couple called police to report "suspicious activity," and when authorities arrived Gauthier was still there.

The responding officer, in a police report, writes that he drew his gun on Gauthier, who approached him with his hand in his pocket. "I told him he shouldn't walk up to us with his hand in his pockets," the officer writes.

"It was at that time I noted his zipper was open and part of his shirt was hanging out," the officer continues. "I asked him why his zipper was down and he said he didn't know.

56 yr old & 17 yr old males, advertised for perversion on Craigslist, met at a rest stop for same, one pees next to an occupied car.

What’s the problem? This is as normal as what married hetero people do. /s

Public sex and lying to an officer are okay. It’s just sex.

Everytime I read one of these stories I shake my head - independent of all the other issues - the “lifestyle” of anonymous restroom sex just seems so sordid and sad to me - what an existence. The argument that homosexuality is just an “alternative lifestyle” doesn’t meet the common sense test - 56 year olds meeting 17 year olds for restroom romps is just pitiful IMHO.

WHAT A SICKO PERVERT! I hope he gets canned the next election. How in the world people can put up with such disgusting behavior in their politicians, or anyone for that matter, is beyond me!

I suspect the Franken-lovers in MN will ignore this entirely in hope of getting state freebies. MN people went off the wall with HHH in 1948 and never much looked back.

As long as he doesn’t tap his foot in a restroom...

Anybody who reads this story and says the problem is “he lied”, is sick.

They 17yo lied and that is a problem. Some are insisting that this is statutory rape and the old pervert should be tried. Seriously though, he was lied too about that. If he should be charged with anything it should be some kind of luod act in public charge.

Anyway, this story makes me a little sick. If it was a Republican it would be all over the news and people would be calling for resignations and jail time. That double standard is infuriating.

HHH now though looks pretty respectable for a Minnesotan by way of SD if one ignores his penchant for big spending, as they do in MN.

Homosexuals thing their “lifestyle” is a good thing, yet, they seek to hide it at places like on the side of highways.

They are anonymous sex hookups. They aren’t relationships.

And yet Anderson Cooper et al try to draw a moral equivalency to heterosexual relationships.

Have so soon forgotten Sen. Larry Craig and his foot tapping in a public rest room in an airport trolling for sex in the stalls??????????????
He now by the way says what he was doing in that rest room was offical business and the charges against him should be expunged from his record.

“No strings attached”? How about AIDS? There are people on the radio here in the Boston area who think that AIDS is not spread through anonymous gay sex.

In the print media (on-line as well) would have buried the party affiliation on page 27.

I will not matter to Minnesotans. These are the same asshats that elected Al Franken and Jesse Ventura. Hell, they were the only state that chose Mondale over Reagan in 1984. What a bunch of loozers.
