Breaking: Shooting at Family Research Council office in DC
The Washington Examiner ^ | 8/15/2012 | Joel Gehrke

Posted on 08/15/2012 9:09:28 AM PDT by Palmetto Patriot

Two people, including one security guard, were shot at the office of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C., this morning.

“The police are investigating this incident,” said FRC President Tony Perkins in a statement on the shooting. “Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today. Our concern is for him and his family.”

The shooter was also reportedly shot, according to a local news report, which notes that the FBI is at the scene.

The Family Research Council is a socially-conservative non-profit that participates in cultural debates about abortion, traditional marriage, and religious liberty.

Never mind. I see the second person was the shooter himself. Prayers for that misguided individual as well.

I think it may be part of a coordinated attack, along with the Dark Knight shooter and the Sikh shooter. Read these and weep:

Sevrin Caswell · Top Commenter · Swansea University Good. I don’t really agree with shooting people, but it was only a matter of time, considering the pervasive nature of guns in america, that the right sort of person would target the right sort of organisation. Shame the guard is still alive, he doesn’t deserve to be.

We need to get these people’s real names and turn them into the FBI for inciting violence and hate speech. Make them play by their own rules.

Update, 2 PM EDT:

From Fox News: According to authorities, shooter made statements about FRC’s conservative policies, then shooting. Security guard “was a hero...went above and beyond...” Incident appears to be classified as domestic terrorism, which suggests FBI believes the motive was political. Fox News reporter also suggested that maybe statements about FRC policies were made after shooter was wrestled to the ground (though whether it was before or after is irrelevant.)

Politico.com is quoting Fox News regarding statements by shooter. Updated Washington Post article still does not mention that aspect of story, and niether does CNN story.

I read this commentary at your provided link:
I have read the follow up reports. The guard confronted the shooter, was shot in the arm and then, with other staff, tackeled the shooter and held him until police arrived. The shooter was reported to have multiple guns and lots of ammo. Sounds like a real tragedy was averted today.
Have you heard this too?

I guess we can label the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate group now.

According the Southern Poverty Law Center (kooks & money hungry crooked lawyers) say:

Family Research Council

Founded:
1983

Location:
Washington, D.C.

Ideology:
Anti-Gay

The Family Research Council (FRC) bills itself as “the leading voice for the family in our nation’s halls of power,” but its real specialty is defaming gays and lesbians. The FRC often makes false claims about the LGBT community based on discredited research and junk science. The intention is to denigrate LGBT people in its battles against same-sex marriage, hate crimes laws, anti-bullying programs and the repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

Why do I question whether the Obama administration really does anything to these people, even the shooter?

I've been though the C&C class and I think it's time to get that new gun my husband wants me to get-instead of using one of our bigger guns. I'm vocal locally & just yesterday answered a pro-homosexuals comments on Facebook - Boy Scouts. I was nice, she thought marriage started with governments. I told her the first historical reference to marriage was Gensis.

Many of us say it as a half joking/half serious jab, but I think the reality is that many liberals are truly mentally ill. Their response to calm, reasoned positions that others propose is virtually always to emotionally rant and rave like spoiled children. Their blog posts are nearly without exception filled with cursing and wishes for the deaths of their opponents. Their thinking, if you can call it that, is infantile. Don’t get what they want?... they just throw a tantrum and begin hurling names and insults.

Heck, to believe in most of their causes REQUIRES an inability to think rationally. One must be mentally unbalanced to believe: The Earth is a living entity called Gaia, and we are destroying it (him/her?) via the substance we all produce when we exhale; Homosexuality is normal, and is just as viable a foundation for a family as is heterosexuality; Taking on vast amounts of new debt is the best way to solve the problem of having too much debt; Food stamps are an excellent way to stimulate the economy; The government can provide health care for free; The government can provide anything for free, etc....etc.....etc.....

Good afternoon. I trust you are doing well.

Ya know what's funny? Christopher Walker, Derek M. Silkebaken, Kyle Jones-Northam, Ty Francher and Sevrin Caswell think that even if their names are alias, that someone couldn't determine who they really are, and their location (and their relatives/families too).

Just for the record: Chris, Derek, Kyle, Ty and Sevrin, you can be identified, located, and neutralized. Trust me on this one, and I'm not from the government.

I think something to bear strongly in mind is the fact that SPLC has designated Family Research Council (2 years ago and has maintained ever since) and many other Christian and traditional-family organizations as “Hate Groups”.

Think about it; what kind of message does this give liberals and gays? If it is officially designated a “Hate Group” then does that not lead to believing these groups are criminal and should be “dealt with”?

You'll get no argument from me. This event and the comments I've seen posted, prove it beyond doubt. Many are truly mentally sick and on the edge. Maybe that's why libtards shun firearms, because they know if they had them, they'd shoot people with differing opinions. The democrat party has become something evil, dangerous, and delirious.

During the Chick-Fil-A wars, some homo leftist on youtube was claiming that some group or other was a “designated hate group”, and the question was - “who designated them as a hate group?”.

The answer was the SPLC, and I said I have as much authority as they do, and I designate the SPLC as a “hate group”... so there.

Yes, I don’t know who SPLC thinks they are to engage in such designations. By whose authority do they do so?

In any case, their list of hate groups is touted by liberals and gay activists, and I feel it is unjust, libelous, and dangerous. Yes, SPLC is the one fostering the hate.

The SPLC has the same problem with stating any moral position that any humanist has -

if it’s all relative and based on human opinion,
no opinion can be said to be any more morally valid than any other opposing opinion.

Details are coming out:

“The suspect “made statements regarding their policies, and then opened fire with a gun striking a security guard,” a source told Fox News. WJLA-TV7 reported the suspect was also shot.”

“Sources also said the gunman may have been carrying a bag from Chick-fil-A, the embattled fast-food restaurant whose president came under fire from gay activists after he said he did not agree with same-sex marriage.”

“Sources told Fox News that after guard took away his gun, the suspect said, “Don't shoot me, it was not about you, it was what this place stands for.”

According to Pete Williams' story on NBC News website:

The suspect’s name has not been released, but officials said he is from nearby Herndon, Va., and was born in 1984. A photographer who saw the suspect being arrested describes him as a 6-foot-3, 250-pound black male.

Take it with a pound of salt, though. This is the MSM I'm quoting.

Just one more comment... The photographer who saw the suspect... did he forget he was a photographer when he saw the suspect? Why no photo?
