Obama is ready to sign up immigrants--Romney’s hands are tied on issue

More than 1.7 million illegal immigrants could become eligible for tentative legal status Wednesday when President Obama’s non-deportation policy goes into effect, and after initial fears that the program would backfire, immigrant advocates are urging young immigrants to sign up.

Activists say the policy is the biggest change on immigration in decades, and it has roiled the political landscape, solidifying Mr. Obama’s support among Hispanics and leaving presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney struggling to say what he would do.

On Tuesday, the Obama administration laid out final details, including relaxed education standards that set a low bar.

Under the rules, illegal immigrants in job training or who have enrolled in a GED course are eligible — a lesser requirement than obtaining a high school diploma or equivalency certificate.

The government begins taking applications Wednesday, and immigrant rights groups and members of Congress from both parties have scheduled legal clinics across the country to help determine whether immigrants qualify and to aid them in filling out the forms

The left and anti-American infiltrators use the tools of immigration, be it legal or illegal to lay this country to waste for their own gain.

Never mind tens of millions of Americans are out of work, or underemployed etc. Never mind there are issues with resources, water, housing, energy, jobs etc, regardless of how much harm this causes Americans.

The more immigrants the leftist can get in, the more power they gain, as the immigrants understand where the handouts, coupons and freebies come from.

And it's why the Republican party are also using immigration as a tool for their own personal benefit.(See Bush's multiple attempts at amnesty).

They just don't give a damn the insidious harm it's causing America.

Some, including House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, have called the policy backdoor amnesty and said they worry about fraud.

He's worried about fraud?

Somebody tell this guy one of our biggest industries in the U.S. now is FRAUD, due to lunatic immigration policies which have been going on for decades. How much they pay this guy?

Since this never ending uncontrolled immigration free for all, both legal and illegal have been going on for decades, when did Lamar finally figure this out?

I can't believe people are being sucked into their epic con job.

Of course the Dems want the illegals here (then again, ask blacks what they think about it and you will hear a different tune). However, blame should be given to the GOP as well. Big business loves cheap labor and the GOP was a willing partner as long as big business continued to donate (better word should be “bribe”) to the GOP.

I really thought after 9-11 that, at the very least, our borders would be sealed up, but no. What would it take?

Sure, we have states like Arizona and Alabama taking a tougher stand on illegals, and we also have states trying to enact voter ID laws. Where was all this 20 to 30 years ago?

What exactly is Romney’s plan to deport illegals? I don’t think he wants to. I doubt that many in the GOP want to deport. They are desperately trying to win the Hispanic vote. Even Reagan granted amnesty.

And how has that worked so far?

Yes, this was done by Executive Order. And The One said it was a ‘political change’ that allowed him to do this, since the Republicans in Congress wouldn’t do it for him.

Having been a LEGAL alien and now a naturalized CITIZEN I REFUSE to use the term “undocumented immigrants.” It’s “ILLEGAL ALIEN!” I despise when demonrats try to put a pretty blue satin bow on a pile of feces!!

I suggest EVERYONE who is PRO American start getting back to the original term “ILLEGAL ALIEN.”

The predictable results of lax border enforcement is destruction of the country in this very manner.

Its hard to believe the open border, 'these-are-natural-republicans' types on our side were so easily duped.

Including the few remaining open border brainstems who still haunt FR with their ill-considered opinions on the matter. Brilliant, guys.

I didn't use that term, you did.

And I personally don't give a damn if you just landed here from another planet.

America no longer needs immigrants legal or illegal..It's choking off our country...America needs a major moratorium on all immigration. Our legal immigration policies should have been radically reformed, like 10 years ago. Now it needs to be completely eliminated for the next 20 years due to this never ending free for all.

The U.S. government has turned the U.S. into an immigration dumping ground.

Hello?

From an article (on this) on Fox...

As duly elected custodians of the U.S. Constitution, Congress has a sacred responsibility to reassert its authority to write and regulate immigration laws. They must demand that the president abide by the Constitutional Separation of Powers doctrine, and reign in the abuse of executive power President Obama is using to ignore the law.

Cowards, all!

Not only is it an executive order. The bill for this was defeated by a Democrat Congress in December 2010. It was not only a Democrat Congress, it was a LAME DUCK Democrat Congress. They could basically do anything they wanted. And they STILL defeated it.

These executive orders are receiving too little attention. I don’t mean here on FR and among like-minded people, I mean in the general population. I was hoping the Dinesh D’Souza movie would go into Obama’s abuses of power, but it seemed to me that he avoided the subject.

By the way, the movie opens Friday in a lot of places. I’m not getting a percentage of the box office, I just think it is worth seeing twice. The three interviews at the end of the movie—Shelby Steele, Daniel Pipes, and David Walker—are superb. More thrilling than any shootout scene in Total Recall.

Wonder why our chicken-shitte candidates R&R have nothing to say about this abuse of immigration law? Both are no better than Obama or craptastic con GWB on the illegal invasion in this country.

Thanks for the heads-up. Hell, there will probably be moonbats protesting outside the theaters up here.

But I am going, if it is showing anywhere in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts.

Yes it’s an executive order. I believe its friendly sounding name was something like “deferred action”.

It doesn’t really matter now though. News of all of Obama’s abominations don’t matter anymore. I don’t know why anyone bothers posting such news anymore.

After all, we all know on FR that Romney is just as bad as Obama, so he would have probably ordered something similar if Obama hadn’t beaten him to it.

Yes, we can expect similar EO’s from either Romney or Obama. The contest for the presidency isn’t worth anyone’s time or concern anymore. They both have an equal desire to destroy this country.

I’ll let the reader of this post determine if the above deserves a < /sarc > tag. I don’t care if it’s taken either way anymore.

Why so harsh? SHEESH!! I was speaking in general terms and not accusing you of using politically correct language.

I’m proud that I chose this country and went through all the red tape that was required and should be required to do so. We all need to be aware of insidious PC language “creep.”

RE :”If they can apply for driver's licenses, they must be offered the opportunity to register to vote, and their status as potential voters may NOT be challenged.

Not true. Legal residents with green cards can get drivers licenses but not vote. Now it is true that they may not be challenged. It depends on local laws.

This makes my blood boil. Millions of arrogant leeches invade our country, wave their own flag, tell us we’re evil racists, and demand whatever they want...and our politicians and media fall over themselves to give it to them! The American citizens be damned! And if anyone thinks Romney will do anything about it, they’re dreaming.

Didn’t think of that and you are probably right! Why is our side so quiet. See no evil, hear no evil.... It’s like going upstream every day w/the GOP while they let the ‘rats float whereever.

FREEDOM OR FREE STUFF YOU GET ONE CHOICE CHOOSE WISELY

Freedom is not free - it comes with the price of bravery and courage.

"Free stuff" is never free - it comes with the price of slavery.
