The good General is a liar.
She entered the military in 1976 (West Point)...before ‘Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell’....which means the Army ‘Asked’. She obviously said ‘no, I’m not gay’.
In this era, she would have also been asked about gay sexual encounters, in order to get her security clearance....and lied on that paperwork.
The article says she left the Army in 1986...’because of the strains of maintaining a secret lesbian relationship’...in other words, she was violating UCMJ on a daily basis.
I know we’re supposed to be tolerant and holding hands, now; but, should she really be rewarded for her lack of integrity?
No one lasts that long and gets promoted without others knowing. They contributed to a long-pervasive culture of corruption and cover-up. Leave her as a General and prosecute those who lied on her behalf for 3 decades.
