Obama, Democrats Attack Ryan

President Barack Obama called Representative Paul Ryan the “ideological leader” of congressional Republicans as he welcomed him to the election campaign.

“I congratulate Congressman Ryan, I know him, I welcome him to the race,” Obama said to boos from a crowd of supporters during his first public comments since presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney named Ryan as his running mate.

“Congressman Ryan is a decent man, he is a family man, he’s an articulate spokesman for Governor Romney’s vision. But it’s a vision that I fundamentally disagree with.”

Other Democrats also came out swinging Sunday.

David Axelrod, chief strategist for President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign, called Ryan “a right-wing ideologue” and said the congressman’s selection is aimed squarely at the tea party.

“It is a pick that is meant to thrill the most strident voices in the Republican Party, but it’s one that should trouble everybody else — the middle class, seniors, students — because of Ryan’s record,” Axelrod said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “He is a right-wing ideologue...

RE :”IMO, if S.S. and Medicare are craftily converted into a private sector plan, retirees under 55 could retire with a better retirement than what seniors today have. And certainly, the folks that are just starting out today in the workforce would.
Someone who is 50 years old today, would probably retire with some sort of a combination retirement, a certain percentage of what seniors today think of a government programs, and a certain percentage of what we would think of as private sector programs. The younger, the smaller the government portion would be, and the larger the private portion would be.
I don't think we need to look at that sub 55 group as being screwed here.

Yes because we are expected to still pay the Medicare taxes so those over 55 (will) get the same medicare golden benefits that they do now, like electric wheelchairs, while being told we are out of luck. What private system is going to pay for the expensive cancer treatments that we give them now as well as elrectrioc wheel-chairs?

There is no private system in the world that will or can take care of future seniors they way they are now.

Ryan voted for the expansion of current medicare benefits under Bush, only to now claim it will go broke in 10 to 15 years so those of us serfs will be out of luck. Now he comes to us as the 'truthsayer'

The goal is to get to a place where we take care of ourselves financially from birth to our return to the earth.

A new plan would require employees to transition to it.  Yes, they would start out paying the same Medicare payments they always had.  In ten years though, there would be only 75% as many people fully on the old program.  At twenty years, there would be only 50% as many people fully on the old program.  New people entering the system at that point would be 50% endowed in the old program, and 50% endowed in their own private sector plan.

In less than thirty years, you would have almost 100% inclusion in the private sector plan, with perhaps 25% still vested to a small degree in the old plan.

At some point folks will have enough funding to be able to be kicked loose on their own.  I don't know if that happens in 35 or 45 years, but our old style SS/Medicare participation will be very small by then.  Nobody is going to get screwed.

Would you rather retire under the SS/Medicare system today, or would you rather retire with a few million in the bank owning your own home, and in possession of catastrophic insurance plans that would see you through most anything?  I'd love to take a double helping of the latter for my wife and me.  I only wish we could have started out on this journey in my youth.

BTW: A little surprise if you click that graphic on the right...

Democrats and Republicans stole the money paid in so now they want us all to be on welfare..at the mercy of our crooked politicians. Whats new? our kids and grandkids are facing a bleak future. no homes no jobs and no healthcare..is what they will face..and you can look to DC for the why. Most states have some form of healcare for those without it but the Feds want that money in DC so we get Obamacare..

” Seniors are just like everyone else, they want ‘theirs’ and being told OVER AND OVER that they ‘earned it’ they are sure that our money is really their money/

It’s the two parties that continually up the ante continually promising seniors more and more $$$ at our expense to get their votes. Now the Republicans repeat over and over how brave they are for telling those over 55 they hit the lottery(so please vote for me) and those under 55 that they are out of luck, the well of endless cash flow to seniors means you OTHERS cant retire Sorry.”

It took 2 parties to sell us down the river

1) The PURE EVIL Party

2) The gutless, spineless, clueless, Stupid Party

More like the #2 evil-light party.

How else to explain Ryan voting for medicare expansion (and every other massive spending bill under Bush) and then only a few years later telling us that money will only last to pay for the GOP’s most important voters, err seniors, to get them their expensive cancer treatments and free electric wheelchairs, but the rest of us less important voters are out of luck and nearly on our own ? And because he is telling us the truth bravely???/

That is EVIL light,

I will never understand the Medicare Part D thing.

How can you spin that? It’s another “Great Society” program just like Lyndon Johnson’s failures that we are still stuck with 50 years later.

You’ve got to be barking mad, if you’re going to vote for that, then go out whistling the Conservative theme song.

RE:”More like the #2 evil-light party.

Dont forget my more recent favorite. Supporting and voting for a debt limit deficit reduction bill that delays spending cuts for nearly two years and then a year later claiming those cuts will destroy the country and they are really Obama’s cuts and you(Rs) had nothing to do with them and they must be repealed,

Or claiming that the Housing bubble was real economic Reagan growth where everyone wins because of Bush policies then years later 2008 after 8 years of Bush claiming that Republicans had nothing to do with it.

This is not a serious party, but their campaign theme is now “We are the serious party”

Both parties are scamming us. It’s really depressing. Seriously. Today we’re extending the hand of welcome to people who don’t belong here, so they can work and displace Citizens of the United States.

And this is the closest thing to agreement I’ve seen in twenty years in the Senate, the House, the White House, Republicans, Democrats, our heroes, their heroes... honestly, why do I even bother anymore?

What I want to know is, what laws can I now break, get all sorts of freebies from the government, and be treated like a rock star?

Hell, they’d mow me down with a fully automatic weapon if I tried to scam this nation 1/100th as much as illegal immigrants do, and they get the slap on the back, while I get the shaft.

UnFrickenBelievable...

I wonder myself. We have no representation anymore.
