NIE: Iran approaching immunity zone (strike against nuke program would be ineffective)

As the debate over a possible strike against Iran's nuclear facilities grows, it seems that is possible that such a move would be ineffective.

According to a Friday report by Yedioth Ahronoth, top US officials, who are privy to the relevant intelligence shared by Israel and the United States, said that Tehran is rapidly approaching the "immunity zone"—the critical point in time after which the Islamic Republic's nuclear program will no longer be vulnerable to a military strike.

The National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) report, recently submitted to the White House, paints a bleak picture, as it indicates "a significant progress" in Iran's "arms group"—the people and facilities focused on the manufacturing of a nuclear warhead. …

Just yesterday the White Hut was telling us not to worry...

“We have ‘eyes’ inside the nuclear facilities and we will know in real time when and if Iran decides to cross the threshold and develop nuclear weapons,” Carney said, according to a report by Channel 10 News.

There is no reason for the strike to be ineffective,
if it is massive enough to begin with.
Now is not the time for “surgical” strikes, the
infrastructure of the country must be destroyed
totally.

Bounce the RUBBLE!
Bounce it again!
Keep on bouncing it.
Let them try to build a bomb by candle light.

If Iran gets a nuke, there will be nuclear war. Either they will attack Israel or Israel will attack them. There’s no way around it. The nuclear winter caused by lobbing missiles back and forth may be what the Mayans were talking about.

And by the way, did you see where they found some new Mayan documents that say it’ll all be Bush’s fault?

Bush's fault.

He appointed too many closet queers within the ranks of the GOP; and presumably they had some amount of dirt on him; and then add his Marquis of Queensberry political rules towards the Dems.

And the lying verminous Marxist Ivy League poofters infiltrated into the State Dept. and elsewhere who knowingly falsified the intelligence estimates to screw him.

He should have transferred them all to Point Barrow, Alaska to keep an eye out for incoming Russian ICBMs.

Cheers!

Good morning Terry!

Please be careful of that Nuclear Winter meme: it was made up by Sagan and heavily promulgated by the left for the sole intent of criminalising the West's nuclear weapons. It's one of the most instantly accepted yet completely unexamined 'truths' on the planet.

A good (but indifferently formatted) analysis can be found here

Iran isn't approaching an immunity zone. What they are drawing neigh unto is a danger zone. The real thing, for All the marbles.

The Mullahs have to get this one thing through their head. Any nukes go off anywhere, not delivered by bomber or ICBM but a smuggled in ground detonation, in a City, any City, Anywhere...say goodbye to millions of Iranians.

A lot of innocents would die, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

It might be tough to be an Israeli, or even tough to be a U.S. citizen, but it will really suck to be them if or when it ever gets started. Their Mahdi will need climb out of a smoking crater. He better wait until our last boomer sub runs out of provisions before he attempts it.

So, the tempature won’t drop 30 degrees c. below zero, which sucks because I was really counting on a nuclear winter to stop all this global warming crap.

But, what would happen if Israel launches, then Iran, then Syria, then Pok-ee-stom followed by India....and we haven’t even fired a shot yet. I would imagine it won’t be fun. I don’t think I’d like the mud falling from the skies as it will when Yellowstone erupts.

A “strike” is underway and has been underway since before Bush left office. Stuxnet and most likely the assassination campaign and the Iranian “revolution” are, I’m convinced, all initiated by Bush. Timing-wise, he’s got to be the match that lit the fuse.

But the “strike” where you go in and bounce rubble, that won’t happen; at least not against the nuclear targets. The nuclear targets each have too little value to justify the level of investment and risk required to take them out. The targets where you invest a direct “bounce the rubble” delivery risk have to be more highly leveraged to be of value in stopping the program. Meaning, if you expend a bomb from a US plane then that bomb would “directly” effect whether Iran could build a bomb. The program is too spread out for that unless Obama is willing to kill Iranians on a World War II scale.
Given what’s going on in Iran and Syria a direct bombing campaign would adversely effect everything else in
America’s interest. Therefore, it is best to continue with the level of conflict that’s going on now. It will be the price of bread in Tehran that destroys the regime and therefore the nuclear weapon program.

Besides, “bouncing the rubble” would be SOOOO George Bush. /s

Propaganda. The NIE is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the current regime. This is the warmup to “Oops. Too late to do anything about it now. Time for another round of golf?”

If the truth was really being told, it would confirm that the real reason Israel has not hit aspects of Iran’s nuclear program is because Israel’s intelligence services had already long determined that short of using nuclear weapons, Iran’s nuclear program could not be effectively halted or deterred.

They truly do not care about that. They are so fanatical as to believe that the Mahdi actually will appear and save them from any significant retribution; and even if that does not occur, they were good and faithful Muslims at the end of it all and are guaranteed a rapid flight to Jannah as martyrs that fought in the way of Allah.

Yes, that is the problem. With the rest of what you said, it all adds up to being a truly grievous problem.
