Krauthammer Smacks Down Simon's Welfare Ad Dog Whistle Charge: 'Was Clinton Racist?'

ewsBusters reported Friday that Politico's Roger Simon, appearing on PBS's Inside Washington, accused the Romney campaign of employing a racist "dog whistle" in its anti-Obama welfare ad.

Also appearing on the program was syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer who scolded, "Any time a real issue is brought up here, all of a sudden it’s a silent dog whistle that only liberals hear...Clinton’s the guy who passed the law in the first place. Was that a dog whistle? Was he a racist?" (Video follows with transcript and commentary).

ROGER SIMON, POLITICO: But I think that’s the dog whistle in this ad.

GORDON PETERSON, HOST: Anybody else hear a dog whistle?

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Any time a real issue is brought up here, all of a sudden it’s a silent dog whistle that only liberals hear. If Barack Obama had been white like say Bill Clinton, and he had done this, you would have the same attacks. Clinton’s the guy who passed the law in the first place. Was that a dog whistle? Was he a racist?

Mickey Kaus, who’s one of the leading neo-liberal writers in America who knows this stuff in and out, he wrote a book called “The End of Inequality,” has written about this reform that now has been introduced by the Obama administration. He says it guts the entire legal structure of it. He knows, and look, let me give you simply one example. The reason it guts it is it allows governors to waive the work rule, and to instead institute job training, which includes hula dancing, self-esteem classes, and keeping a journal. That’s what we are talking about by gutting the law. What Clinton insisted on, what conservatives they are insisting on, and what Obama is overturning is the work first requirement. That’s the heart of it.

Indeed.

The reality is liberal media members see racism in everything, especially since Barack Obama first threw his name into the presidential ring in February 2007.

Now, a conservative can't sneeze without being accused of racism.

It's gotten pretty old, hasn't it?

The true answer is "Why yes! Yes he was and is!"

But we can't go around saying that.

Democrat: Once a racist always a racist. Also once a liar always a liar. Lying and racism comes natural to them

The way I see it:

Under Obama, Liberals spent several years saying everything (and everyone) was a Racist. People tired of that. The race card has pretty much expired.

But it's not quite dead yet.

Now the Liberals are talking about "dog whistles". They say, "It's there! Racism! You think it's invisible! You think we're making this stuff up! But we can detect it! We know -- unlike you rubes -- we know that Racism remains a problem, and a valid political weapon!"

I think this one has a very short shelf-life. And I think that when the "dog whistle" gets laughed off stage, they will have no third act. The race card will be truly expired.

Well it wouldn't be the first time the Obama surrogates accused Clinton of being a racist.

ummm - anyone got a link to the ad?

so far, the ad itself is ‘silent’ - at least I can’t hear it.

It’s OK for B-HO to be a racist. And he’s not even black.

After 3.5 years of African Socialism, I'm of more of a racist now than I have ever been.

Look at the thriving economies in Africa, and tell me that the culture in the White House can't be compared to any one of a dozen African "republics."

“The reality is liberal media members see racism in everything, especially since Barack Obama first threw his name into the presidential ring in February 2007.”

I disagree, when the left cries racism the right falls all
over themselves to point out the true intentions of any given
action or statement

Untill the right refuses to indulge this foolishness all the left has to do is accuse and sit back and enjoy the show

If we are caled racists, then they are child mlesters.

Abortion is the ultimate child molesting; you drill a hole in the baby’s head and suck the brain out. Then for good measure, you burn the baby with highly saline solution.

If the policies & behavior of a minority President cannot be criticized without incurring charges of racism, then I cannot support a minority candidate for President in the future. That is not racism, but my right to preserve free speech, especially political speech.

It is as simple as that.

Krauthammer assists the myth that Clinton was a welfare reformer. What a joke. Newt dragged him across the finish line kicking and screaming only after the dims were crushed in the midterms. I loathe the MSM and that includes both sides.
