NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has picked Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan to be his running mate, according to a Republican with knowledge of the development. If lying is the only way to win as you so cynically claim, then I don’t want to win. But the people who want to be lied to will vote for Obama no matter what. He can have them. Beyond that crowd of cultists, give Anericans a little credit. They know our budget situation is unsustainable and Ryan is just the man to provide the solution and to show them why we need to get serious now and not just leave it for some future more courageous president to solve. Read the piece on Drudge right now about how Ryan became the intellectual leader of the GOP. It shows he’s brilliant at making the case about the need to get our nation’s/ finances in order and what it will mean if we don’t to voters. This is a great pick that now makes this a big election about big things. It becomes now an election about the nation’s future, not just about holding power for the sake of holding power like Obama, while doing little to move the country forward with that power. Romney wins that kind of election, Obama wins an election about small things.

And Ryan is an adult pick and a courageous one. The guy is scary smart and is imminently capable of taking the reigns if it became necessary. If he’s not qualified to be president, no one is.

Paul Ryan impressed me during the healthcare debate. After listening to member after member ramble on about what the bill was and wasn’t, I got a serious case of tired head. But Paul Ryan spoke about specifics in the bill and I knew that he had actually read the darn thing. I am a senior who is not afraid of a medicare overhaul, as it sucks. Not all seniors are morons, most are willing to give back if it helps the country. I don’t think Ryan does anything but add clarity to a race that mitt cannot begin to explain, thus his lagging in the polls. Rubio would have also been a good pick but all the others mentioned added nothing to a bland ticket. Frankly I am suprised, as I expected Mitt to pick Portman who would have put the rest of the Country asleep.

Young undecideds just want a job. Ryan can articulate how Romney can help.

If your Presidential hopes and aspirations rely on on your VP pick then you were screwed before you even started.

People are not voting for the second guy/gal that might be charge if something goes horribly wrong they are looking at the top of the ticket. The one who will have the power that will be making the plan.

The second banana position is just that, the second banana, they will be doing ribbon cuttings and opening bridges to nowhere as needed. And if they do give a speech it will be to echo what ever the President has set into motion.

Great post—but don’t buy that Romney is lagging in the polls. Those polls wat overpolls Democrafs, esp this new crapola Fox poll. The most accurate poll from 2008 according to a study by the political science dept at Fordham Unkversity shows Romney leading by 4 points over the last 2 days. Fox’s polll was #10 in accuracy. They and most of the others take no care in netting a political demographic that either reflects the nation’s actual party registration percentages or a turn out model based on ye most recent election or at least the likelyhood or level of energy of each party’s voters. Rasmussen is the only one who does, thus their great track record in not just 2008 but in the last 5 election cycles. Toss the other polls. They’re wishful thinking reflecting the biases of the liberals running them.

Yes it was painfully obvious how out of touch King Obama was during that exchange. I understand Obama has a specific plan to bring down America so more people are willing to give up even more rights for govermental intervention in their lives.

Ryan could have done some good right where he is. As VP he will do only what Romney wants him to do and that Fabian socialist Romney wants the exact same end as the Marxist currently in the white house. There has been a lot of spew about not making the same mistake when picking a VP and picking someone with executive experience that can step into the presidents office if necessary and do the job. Palin is still more qualified than all of this cycles and last cycles candidates put together. So what does the RNC and Romney do they pick some one only marginally more qualified than Obama. Fey on the GOP, when they get their heads out of the communist backside I might start voting for them again.

If this is true, then it’s an excellent choice.

I’m not an enthusiastic Romney supporter; but with Ryan on the ticket, I won’t be sitting it out on 11/4. Ryan will have my vote, and Romney along with him.
