With so much money raised why is Mr. Romney not fighting back?
Self

Suddenly, I am geting this sinking feeling that Mr. Romney is going to fail just like Mr. McCain in his mission. The reason is both men do not fight back. They do not fight back dirty. What is their problem? What good is all that money for?

Personally, I think Obama’s (and his peoople’s) incompetence is on display here. Romney is clearly in his element and, like a good comedian, understands that timing is to politics (and comedy) what location is to real estate.

Those that think Mitt isn’t a fighter to me weren’t paying attention during the Primaries.. He was down right nasty during the primaries and I have no doubt he’ll fight as down and dirty as needed.

However as others have correctly pointed out, much of Mitt’s money cannot be spent until AFTER he is nominated, and right now its the tail end of summer vacation and the olympics are on. Huge media buys right now aren’t pretty much torching money.

there are limitations on how much he can spend prior to becoming the official nominee. After the convention, look for a huge media surge.

I don't believe it's the amount of advertising that is questioned as much as the content. How much does it cost to take punches at JugEars during fund-raising speeches and interviews???

Romney hasn't landed a single punch and any damage to Obama has been self inflicted and it should be obvious, even to a straight laced Mormon that you don't win a boxing match by hoping your opponent knocks himself out but that is the pattern that's developing.

PA could be in play, but that window will close quickly if Mitt can't/doesn't defend himself.

Realistically, I don't think PA is ever really in play, even though every election people say it is. But the fact that you are seeing so many Obama ads shows that Obama is spending a lot of money in a state that should easily be his. Frankly, I think PA is not worth much of Romney's time.

1. He cannot spend most of that money until after he is nominated and 2. he is keeping his powder dry while Obama shoots himself in the foot constantly.

Right now Obama and his minions are running scared and are throwing as much mud as possible — they are spending almost twice a month what they are bringing in already, meanwhile Romney is accumulating an enormous war chest.

When people actually start paying attention in late September Obama will have shot his wad and basically be broke and out of ammunition — at that point you will see Romney and the Rep pacs put on an all out blitz.

I find much to dislike about Christie, but then I find much to dislike about all politicians, save one.

I guess I'm just one of the those no-good, unreformed "principled conservatives"... shame on me.

Agreed. Why doesn’t he go straight at Obama’s weaknesses:

Call him, “the most incompetent president in our lifetime,” and point people to the book “The Amateur” which paints a devastating portrait of Obama. The make fun at him for all his screw-ups.

Accuse him of being a radical leftist who hates traditional America, Christianity, and capitalism.

Most importantly, laugh at Obama and his lies. Treat him with scorn and derision.

Obama vs. Obama light. What? Me Worry? says Alfred E. Neuman. RINO’s lose every time. It’s Bob Dole’s turn! Hooray! It’s John McLame’s turn! Hooray! Now it’s Mittens Romney’s turn! Hooray! Someone wake me up when the gulags open up!

When these are activated, notice the follow-up posters from ‘08 who will try to reinforce the negative message.

Well, Obummer hasn't been officially nominated for 2012 yet.

How come he's allowed to run ads while Romney isn't?

To them, there is no “problem”. It’s how they’ve been taught to behave.

They are “gentlemen” of cultivation and refinement. And refined “gentlemen” do not stoop to the gutter to fight. To do so, is “below” themselves.

This is why they can be rolled by “the Chicago crowd”, as McCain was, and as Romney may well be...

This is expected behavior from almost anyone the Republican “establishment” will nominate...

My understanding is that Romney used up his money winning the primaries and now must wait until nominated before spending the election-campaign money he has been raising. By contrast, Obama had no primary opponents and so saved his money, and he's been legally spending his primaries' money attacking Romney.

It's probably the only fiscally sound decision Obama has ever made. Then again, he didn't earn even that--it was all donated.

“Another summer of ‘08 sign on activated to run up Romney’s negatives at a conservative website...”

Romney is an unprincipled progressive masquerading as a conservative, the Mayor Bloomberg of the national GOP. Why conservatives should be required see a candidate that shares 90% of Obama’s views to be some 180-degree improvement from Obama is laughable.

Obama with a GOP-controlled Congress that will challenge him at every turn is better, in the long run, for America than an equally unrestrained Mitt “just a little less Obama than Obama” Romney.

Strategically, America is better off holding Obama in check for the next 4 years, gaining more congressional seats, and hoping the GOP rank and file learn to nominate a Republican with some semblance of conservative principles. Romney would be a 4 year disgrace that ruins the GOP “brand” for decades.

Romney is ruthless and he is an iceman-two qualities that might not be too admirable under normal circumstances, but two that are quite admirable for someone running for President (which Romney has been doing for at least a decade).

Early in the GOP primary, Romney kept smiling and presenting his agenda. He treated the other candidates as nothing more than buzzing flies. But when it came time to wrap it up, out came the Howitzer sized fly swatter and splat was all that was left.

Romney is staying on his game plan and treating Obama like that annoying fly. Obama would like nothing more than for Romney to lose his cool or slip out. When the time is right, the Howitzer fly swatter will be used and used mercilessly. I’ve no doubt of that. But the time is not right yet - he’d just be flailing at the air now.

Obama and his surrogates have been trying for months to get a reaction from Romney and they haven’t gotten one. That’s why the attacks on Romney have become more and more outrageous.

Calling Romney a felon and a murderer is pretty much the political equivalent of the kitchen sink. And Romney hasn’t taken the bait. Where else do you go after that? Wife-beater? adulterer? child molester? porn addict? Now that will be laughable - I hope they try it.

They’re holding off on attacking his religion - that will be the nuclear option-but I’ve no doubt it will be used, if necessary. Utah’s not the issue, but AZ, NV, and CO (to a lesser degree) would not take kindly to an assault on Mormonism and NV and CO are not slam dunks for Zero-far from it.
