It was a factually false ad in many ways - he said she got sick “a short time later” but didn’t want to go to the doctor because they knew they didn’t have insurance...now we know she had insurance for some time afterward so a “short time” could not have been correct, yet that’s what he said. It was discovered 7 years after Romney left Bain - there is no way he had any responsibility. The plant also would have shut down sooner but for Bain - years sooner. So he would have been better off if Bain had not bought the plant and it shut down years before and he still lost the insurance? Any way you slice it - there is nothing true about the ad, other than he tragically lost his wife. I really can’t understand why someone would use this for a partisian political attack like this.
Desperation. They don’t have anyone better to put in front of the cameras, and they are just throwing ideas at the wall in the hopes that something, anything will stick.
