I’ve found many errors in statistical methodology in published journals. The greatest error is not in the statistics, but in biased sample selection.

And those are called "Presidential tracking polls".

http://conservativecolloquium.wordpress.com/2007/10/01/homosexual-activists-intimidate-american-psychiatric-association-into-removing-homosexuality-from-list-of-disorders/

When the American Psychiatric Assc finally decided that homosexuality was no longer a mental illness, it wasn’t even a reversal based on or rooted in principle.

The APA was frightened out of the water by noisy cat-calls, and Paper Airplanes tossed at them from a theater balcony.

The Irony is exquisite. They Incarcerate people and drug and electroshock them literally to death, but they ran away from homosexual activists tossing paper airplanes at them.

Shrinks lie left and right about ECT. It’s safe. It’s new. It’s improved. It’s just a little bit of electricity, no lasting damage.

Like hell it is.
http://www.ect.org/resources/machines.html

Women in their 70s and 80s get ECT because they’re mentally ill with depression after losing their husbands. It kills at least 6% of them within the first half dozen shocks. And like the Drugs, ECT is complete crap.

Mind Freedom is a organization of people who made the mistake of tangling with Psychiatry, and they call themselves Survivors. Read the latest meta analysis of ECT from them by Read and Bentall. ECT’s cost/benefit analysis is so poor it’s use cannot be scientifically justified. (download the pdf)

http://www.mindfreedom.org/kb/mental-health-abuse/electroshock/ect-review-2010-read-bentall.pdf/view

Psychiatry is so out of hand that Mind Freedom actually organizes their members to operate an Underground Railroad, just like we had in the Civil War, but now it’s smuggling people across State Lines to keep them from being locked up and force drugged/shocked by Shrinks.

450Volts, through the brain, and it’s still legal.

If, as they claim, Shrinks are all so damned concerned about the welfare of their patients that they’re willing to drug lobotomize and kill them outright, Why didn’t they stand up to those nasty, homosexual Paper Airplanes and keep trying to cure the homosexuals?

Let’s not forget that under Obamacare, the leftist psych establishment will fabricate phoney mental “diagnoses” of mental health problems, leading to higher spending.

For example, “people who don’t have nice things suffer from depression.” Therefore, we need to have higher taxes to give them YOUR nice things.

Notice they never do the obvious conservative-themed study: Having an angry property owner’s short gun in your face also “causes depression.” So choose WHICH ‘depression’ is worse — I say it’s the latter, meaning - Hey, get a job, earn money for your OWN nice things!!!

And what about the “depression” suffered by the taxpayer who is basically looted by the IRS? Why not measure THAT effect as well? They’ll never “go there” -will they?

The leftist psychology profession drive me nuts (no pun intended). They can ‘prove’ just about anything they want, and the socialist policies naturally flow from that they DO decide to demonstrate & correlate, while they ignore what Tom Sowell calls secondary effects.

I just can’t wait for Obamacare’s mental-health “experts” to begin calling for the “cure” of massive wealth redistribution to ‘alleviate chronic depression’ among poor people. :(

Isn’t slavery great?

“sexually abused by her father” came later. At least it did in Gainesville and the switch was total.

It's the one-on-one stuff in the small room with no witnesses that is a particularly ripe area for abuse, and that needs much more rigorous scrutiny.

It is not professional "abuse" because it is heart and soul of the trade. That is how things are done. Think to the nationwide fad of inventing repressed memories to put private and Christian daycare people in prison a whole swah of the population in Wennatchie Wa, for instance. Some of the most egregious work of that sort was done in Miami and some of those people are still in prison long long after everything was exposed as the BS it was.

Point taken.

I’d, however, point out that the way these clinicians arrive at something like the DSM IV isn’t what I’d call scientific.

I think they normalized homosexuality, for example, by voice vote. Not sure if that actually happened, but I’d heard it did.

LOL.. So true. Problem is, the same is true for many here at FR. They can preach to the choir all day long. But have their thoughts been tested in the realm of reality.

My thoughts below might appear to be independent and not logically linked. This was purposely done so those with eyes and ears can read between the lines.

In times of chaos, people tend to become fearful and become very conservative, even legalistic conservative. I did like the term compassionate conservatism when W. started using it.

Bottom line is that “freedom” is necessary for spiritual growth. In today’s society, with short term thinking, surrender to the gov’t as though it is a drug pusher sucking us in, and then give people all the pharmacological treatments so they lose their ability to resolve conflicts and deal with life, we are a society of drones headed on a one way trip to a hard crash to wake us up.

Freedom is necessary as you cannot surrender to God that which you have already surrendered to the government, i.e. you have no authority over yourself to surrender within.

Sorry to say, we have no room for God when we are full of ourselves either!

It’s easy to understand why communism cannot tolerate the existence of religion as it needs to become the religion in order to survive. This is why O’Bummer is doing his act right now.

In stage hypnotism, you destabilize emotions and then enhance them into a focal point while you distract and take over a person’s will. We are right now in a period of destabilization. Next will come the common enemy and extreme emotion, and soon the hook will be set!

You make a good point. Also, Christians who were inches from obtaining their PhDs in counseling have been kicked out of psych programs at several universities because they tried to have homosexual clients transferred to a counselor favorable to their lifestyle. There have been a number of lawsuits about this. Too busy this week to do the research; but it's worth looking into for any Christian wanting to obtain counseling credentials.

I believe the backstory on that is on the NARTH web site. (Nat'l Assoc for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality.)

I have a neighbor who is a psychotherapist at the local VA hospital. I have heard him go on rants that all executives and business owners should have all their property confiscated, and anyone disagreeing with Dear Leader should be institutionalized. A safe bet would be that he gives his patients the heavy head trip that they are war criminals.

The fraud Lysenko would be proud of what has happened to psychology. I think the damage is irreversible.

A few weeks ago, I found a price-slashed book, “The Sociopath Next Door,” by Martha Stout, PhD, that i have found to be quite interesting and informative. I’m only 1/2 way through it, but it has helped me to clarify my thinking.

She deals with the psychology of people who have no conscience. Roughly 4 out of 100, or 1 out of 25 people have none. 96% of us do. She tells how to spot them and what the techniques are that they use to manipulate us.

Bottom line for spotting is, do they have a pattern of doing outrageous, harmful, and inappropriate behavior followed by a pity play? Classic example would be the wife beater pattern which has in recent years become more publicly examined and analyzed.

I recommend this book to any who are interested in this topic!

After my divorce, I could have written that book. But I will check it out; thanks!
