They are all good candidates imo. I am very happy with the outcome and would think that Brunner and Steelman would rally around a man that fights for conservative issues and makes no apologies for doing so..it would be in their best interest to ensure that McCaskill is defeated.

They were all good candidates. I believe they share Akins views and will rally behind him in order to beat McCaskill. I am very happy with Akin being the choice.

McCaskill did more harm to herself with the ad she posted against Akin saying that he was “just too conservative for MO”. She did herself in with that ad and Akin will win the election if she keeps using it. I hope she does.

Actually now, that’s just too confusing!

The meme around here is to vote for the MOST conservative Republican in the primary, and then vote Republican in the general election. So, if Aikin is the MOST conservative, isn’t this what we FReepers, as the Internet’s premier conservative forum, want?

Voting for a RINO because they can get more moderate votes is what we’ve been fighting!

I think we do well to stand by the more—not less—conservative running.

The one who was seen as "the Tea Party candidate" and "Palin's choice"--Palin endorsed her and came and made a campaign appearance for her--was Sarah Steelman. Steelman came in third.

Todd Akin is a solid conservative. I voted for him. All who voted for Steelman or Brunner yesterday will gladly vote for Akin in November. Akin will defeat ObamaClaire, and he will be a good senator.

The Akin win impressed me. I can’t help liking when the old war horse beats both money and a pretty face. That he won by so much larger margin than expected should embolden us all. Also take a moment to look at the party totals.

GOP 603,120
DEM 289,150

McCaskill got 289,150 votes with no competition and underperformed the Dem Gov race by about 7% so that is really positive thing for us but bad for her. The GOP Senate race over performed the Gov Race by almost the same amount.

This really shows a big enthusiasm GAP. It confirms exactly what Gallop has been reporting. I’ll be surprised if Akin doesn’t outperform Mitt Romney and win by double digits.

If I was akin I would run one add over and over! It would say this: “It was Claire McCaskill’s vote that gave us Obamacare!”

Akin was interviewed on the radio here in St. Louis this morning, and he made that very point. He added that when HE is senator, he wants to be the vote that REPEALS Obamacare.

They are all good candidates imo.

Once upon a time, before the Marxists captured the jackass party and drove nearly all the RINO inclined politicians over to the GOP, elections were about who could do the best job among a slate of decent candidates. They weren't about the lesser of two evils.

Congratulations to the Missouri GOP for getting back to where the entire country should be.

He should hammer that point home at every opportunity between now and election day!

They were all three conservatives & all are better than ClaireBear, no RINOS but Aiken will be easier to paint as an extreme right winger in areas were that is not desired. That’s just what I’ve been hearing. Perhaps some are over-thinking it?

It should be vote in the primary for the most conservative candidate that can win in the general, then vote republican in the general.

FR is still PALIN territory and NEWT territory. We are a conservative site and they are proven conservatives - not self proclaimed.

All I know is there are a lot of Palin haters here at FR, I run in to them at every Palin thread.

They used to be ganged up on, but now they have no fear.

Did you see that Akin and his wife home schooled their 4 boys and 2 girls?

That does it! He's dooooooooomed!

Actually as a grammie of a homeschooled granddaughter, I applaud them for doing this!

They carry the water for Romney! Just smack the maggots down. They are only creepy crawlers and meant to be stepped on!

They expect it as they know this is a CONSERVATIVE SITE.

I wouldn’t say that Massachusetts has a lot of conservatives, or else, the Massachusetts GOP wouldn’t continue to be as leftist as it is. Ditto, with the total number of elected Mass Republicans, at each and every political level, who are not conservative-past, present, and future, too. Everywhere that it exists, I see RINO Republicanism as its own political party.
