Wisconsin Gunman Wade Michael Page's Ex-Girlfriend Arrested
ABC ^ | 8/8/2012 | MATTHEW JAFFE, JOHN PARKINSON and ANTHONY CASTELLANO

Police say they have arrested the former girlfriend of the gunman who allegedly shot and killed six people in a Sikh temple after authorities found a gun in the home they once shared.

Milwaukee police released a statement on Tuesday after the arrest of Misty Cook, saying, "In a joint investigation with the FBI, the South Milwaukee Police Department has arrested Misty Cook on the crime of felon in possession of a firearm. Charges will be sought through the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office."

A federal law enforcement official told ABC News that Cook was taken into custody on the grounds that she is prohibited from having a gun as a convicted felon. Cook was charged in 2002 for fleeing and eluding a traffic officer.

There's no indication she was involved with the attack. Much like her ex-boyfriend, according to the Anti-Defamation League, Cook was involved in white supremacy.

Cook's relationship with Page fell apart in the weeks leading up to his alleged shooting spree at a Sikh temple. Sharon and Terry Page -- who said they are unrelated to the shooter, Wade Michael Page -- live below Cook, who at one time shared an apartment with Wade Michael Page.

According to Sharon and Terry Page, Cook and Wade moved in to the apartment on March 1, but Wade moved out in the middle of June. After that point, according to comments Cook made to Sharon, Wade virtually disappeared.

"She told us that for six weeks she hadn't heard anything of him," Sharon said. "That would have been about the time after he left, so she must have gotten a hold of a co-worker and said he hadn't been at work for three weeks. She said he kind of just dropped off the face of the earth."

I am interested to hear what the charges are.

She was arrested "...after authorities found a gun in the home they once shared..."

But they say she had no role in the attack.

Is it a crime if a gun is found in a house you once live in?

She has a prior felony conviction....she cannot own or reside in a house with a gun.....

Example, if you are married and your wife has a felony conviction in her past, she cannot reside in your home if you own weapons and store them at your home (where she could have access.

“Cook was charged in 2002 for fleeing and eluding a traffic officer.”

With this being considered a felony, I’m not sure our founding fathers would be in agreement that her God -given rights should be infringed upon. Unless I suppose she ran over a bunch of people while fleeing. But I think they would have mentioned that part.

Either she had an incompentent attorney or, most likely, she was convicted of a pleaded down charge that the DA insisted remain a felony...

Just speculation....

Don't tell that to G. Gordon Liddy - his wife owns many guns, or so he stated on the radio, numerous times.

Liddy could be prosecuted by the current rules....

Now, someone with Liddy’s financial resources, resolve and knowledge could nuance the law unlike Michael Page’s ex-girlfriend....

Never heard of Volksfront. What do you make of this:

Volksfront
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“This article is about an American fraternal cultural organization. Volksfront is also the German word for popular front (usually left-wing), or for the right-wing Afrikaner Volksfront in South Africa. “

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volksfront

I know, this is from Wiki. I apply a strong filter to Wiki too. But this may turn out to be a Leftie thing instead of a Rightie thing.

she cannont reside in your home

Pure nonsense. If your wife has a felony conviction, simply deny her access to firearms by buying a safe....or keep them around for self defense and when the cops show up, put them in the safe. Felons can own blackpowder/ball/cap pistols since they are not firearms.

I’m not debating the effacy nor commen sense of the law, just reporting the facts....

Some states consider any gun, (whether in a safe or not), in the same residence as a felon will constitute access....

There are all sort of felon advocacy rights groups out there protesting this issue but the fact still remains, NO guns is the same residence as a felon.....

Yes, this law does infringe on the non-felon spouses 2nd Amendment rights.....

I personally believe once you’ve served your debt all citizen rights should be returned, voting, gun ownership etc.....

No wonder the “mainstream” media is going broke. It took 3 “journalists” to write this 29 SENTENCE article.

Gordon Liddy who is a convicted felon ,, and he has made remarks on his radio program about certain firearms he prefers over others . When asked by a caller who listens to his show about the law restricting felons from gun ownership Liddy simply replied “ I personally own no guns but Mrs. Liddy has one hell of a collection “ . I heard him say that myself when his syndicated show was carried by WCBM radio in Baltimore . I believe Liddy lives in Northern Va. but I’m not sure .

Wade Michael Page is Innocent!

“Look, if you’ve been a killer, you didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, ‘Well, it must be because I was just so bad.’ There are a lot of bad people out there. ‘It must be because I was better armed than everybody else.’ Let me tell you something: There are a whole bunch of better armed people out there. If you were a killer, somebody along the line gave you some help. If you’ve killed people, you didn’t do that. Somebody else made that happen.”

The President should not rest until the real culprit is found. I suggest O.J. Simpson be put on the case. He and the President could team up in their search. Perhaps they could begin by looking for the real culprit on a golf course.
