Secretary of Labor: Wealthy Americans 'don't even want a tax break'
Campus Reform ^

Posted on 08/07/2012 10:40:38 AM PDT by oliverdarcy

America’s rich are not interested in seeing their taxes go down, United States Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis claimed before a large crowd of college students in Washington DC late last month.

“The Republicans in the Senate blocked a vote so we can tax the higher income people, who really don’t even want a tax break,” Solis said, speaking at the annual Campus Progress conference.

Solis was referring to a piece of legislation Democrats have repeatedly brought up in the Senate this year that would ensure that income earned through capital gains would be taxed at least 30 percent. So far Democrats, who control the upper chamber, have been unable to garner the 60 votes necessary to move the legislation through the Senate.

LOL....yeah, the Republicans are going to politically support something nobody wants.

Where do they find such genius?

Oh wait, the Affirmation Action Appointment Center.. . .where merit and competence is irrelevant

Unmitigated gall. Unprincipled, unbacked lies told by minions of an evil administration that does not even care a whit about the truth anymore. They didn't ask anyone who isn't a rich liberal insider, nor do they have a scintilla of a clue what a rich man/woman who actually worked for their money thinks. Why? They KNOW the masses of their leech constituency are too stupid and just too self-greedy to really give a crap about rich people. They want to get "paid" just like the black comedians on TV joke about. It is real. Hate, envy and disdain for hard work and honesty.

So, when all the redistribution is done, when all the rich people are made poor, who the hell benefits? When no one works and they all got somebody else's money in their hands what do they buy? What will happen is that enterprising few will end up with all the money - again.

Well, then, there's no harm in giving them one if they won't accept it.

When taxes are cut they can donate their money to the government.

Isn't freedom wonderful?

Did either Hilda Solis (who is on nobody's short list for Towering Intellect of the Year) or any of her other Socialist Democrat brethren ever stop to think what might happen to our ability to attract foreign capital when this proposed measure renders us non-competitive relative to other nations, which still have favored treatment for capital gains?

No? Not one single thought? Not by any of them?

Color me surprised. ;-)

A government job must be easy for a Democrat: they just make up stuff, no need to do a real job (and they know the “news” media won’t fact-check them).

Does anyone remember the optional higher tax rate in Massachusetts? After income taxes were reduced there was an option for paying the old higher tax rate if you wanted too. After so many people said the tax should stay higher and they would gladly pay that high tax, it turned out very, very few actually paid it.

She must have asked her own party members.

They’re rich.

I know that if the imperial federal government offered me the option to keep more of the wealth I earned, that I would have to turn down such a generous offer.

Excellent.

Can we find one big-mouth liberal who has sent back the money from his "Bush" tax cuts? Just one?

Exactly the kind of remark I would expect from a Labor Secretary recruited from the day laborers standing on the curb. She's barely qualified to rake a lawn. Too bad Obama is incompetent to hire competent help in his cabinet. What else should I expect from a street organizer with a pile of phony academic credentials?

Her contention was based on nothing but her wanting to raise taxes.
