Tehran will continue to back Syria and Bashar al-Assad’s regime because the alliance between the two countries is central to Iran’s foreign policy in the region, a senior Iran official has said.

Iran needs Obama to win in 2012. A Romney win would certainly embolden Israel. Bad news for ImaNutJob.
Obama desperately needs an October Surprise that won’t upset his base.
Instant solution to both problems: Iran invades Syria and Obama boldly steps up to the plate with a great “NOT ON MY WATCH” speech and sends the U.S. forces into battle.
