OBAMA: ROMNEY WANTS VP PETRAEUS
Tue Aug 07 2012 12:01:02 ET

**Exclusive**

President Obama whispered to a top fundraiser this week that he believes GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney wants to name Gen. David Petraeus to the VP slot!

"The president wasn't joking," the insider explains to the DRUDGE REPORT.

A Petraeus drama has been quietly building behind the scenes.

Romney is believed to have secretly met with the four-star general in New Hampshire.

The pick could be a shrewd Romney choice. A cross-party pull. The Obama administration hailed Petraeus as one of history's greatest military strategists. Petraeus was unanimously confirmed as the Director of the CIA by the US Senate 94-0.

But Petraeus has categorically asserted that he has NO political ambitions. And Team Obama stands prepared to tie one of their own to "Bush wars." A Petraeus pick could been seen as simply shuffling the decks of power in DC.

"He's a serious man, for seriously dangerous times," notes a top Republican.

A DRUDGE POLL on Tuesday morning showed readers split on if Romney should give it a go.

And the calendar is running out of days.

Developing...

I have heard that Romney’s folks have an active campaign to feed mis-information to Obama’s campaign through various methods including Obama’s ‘tip lines’

They said Obama’s team has been caught using this mis-info more than a few times so far

I think that is funny as all heck

He’s a conditioned Dem lapdog.

For months, the leftist freaks ran ads calling him Gen. Betray-us, now he runs Hussein’s CIA.

Compromised all the way at the very least.

Him as VP would make Bush’s reach-across-the-aisle “diplomacy” look like patriotism by comparison.

Romney might as well pick Sandy Burglar if he’s going to throw away victory in November.

Moveon.org would absolutely love it .....’Betrayus’. Of course then Romney could get in front of a microphone and tell Zero to get his stooges to knock it off.

I would also expect outcry for Rubio being an amnesty pimp, a traitor who endorsed Mitt Romney early on and his covering for Muzzies against Bachmann.

I’m neutral on P’s nomination.

I would like to point out, though that Eisenhower had no elected political experience, either, and he wasn’t a bad president.......

If Romney selects Ryan, Romney will kick 0bama's ass in this election. Ryan is an all-around GREAT candidate. He's got business savvy, public appeal, congenial, professional, APPROACHABLE (unlike ANYONE in the current regime), honorable, respectful, dignified, courageous, a great 'gaffe-free' orator, etc, etc..

ROMNEY / RYAN 2012 !!!!!

I have the same question regarding this guy as I have for any unknown quantity regarding VP (whether it is Condeleeza Rice, etc.): where do they stand on the issues? Where do they stand on replacing the graduated income tax with a flat tax or the Fair Tax, building border walls, deporting illegals, repealing ObummerCare, abolishing the Depts. of Education, Energy, HUD, and HHS, cutting spending by 40%, ending foreign wars of occupation in mohammedan lands, honoring the 9th and 10th amendments, etc.

Where does Patraeus stand on these and other issues?

If we don’t know, why would anyone support the guy?

Your comment echoes my experience. While I have never been in the military, I have worked with a LOT of ex-Navy officers and enlisted. I found the officers to fall into two categories: the extremely competent, and the politicians.

The extremely competent are the smartest, nicest, most conscientious people I have ever met. They got their advancement by being the best at what they did.

But they don’t advance as fast as the politicians. They know how to parrot the company line, no matter the obvious insanity/stupidity of it.

The military prepared Dwight Eisenhower quite well for the presidency. Eisenhower's diplomacy, political and executive skills were developed at the highest levels during his various roles with the U.S. Army.

I have no concern about Petraeus' qualifications to be president or vice-president whatsoever.

IMO, this is just another

Obama is desperate and EVERYTHING he is doing screams of his desperation, and I believe this is a maneuver on his part to try and sway the VP pick.

We'll see if Romney is stupid enough to fall for this ploy.... God willing, if he truly wanted to win, hands down, he'd pick Allen West for VP.

Not in a million years is this going to happen. He’ll pick me before he picks Petraeus. Its more than likely going to be Rob Portman.

Choosing Petraeus affirms Obama’s current military and Big Brother strategies. I like Rand Paul, because he gives the US military prudence and he gives the left their drugs.

Five minutes after Ryan’s chosen the Dems will saturate TV with ads telling seniors they’ll be eating dog food under Ryan’s plan. Ryan is an economic genius but he will be portrayed as an economic nightmare and a direct descendant of the Marquis d’Evremonde. An attention span challenged America will have little patience to actually listen to the facts. Ideologically a Ryan choice is attractive. Electorally it’s deadly to the GOP.
