Tenn. Democrat Party urges voters to vote against their own nominee - works for pro-life group

NASHVILLE, August 7, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Democratic Party of Tennessee is taking the unusual step of urging citizens to vote against its own nominee for U.S. Senate, because he works for a pro-life organization it deems a “hate group.”

Mark Clayton won the party’s primary by a two-to-one margin over his next closest competitor, Gary Gene Davis. Former NBC Empty Nest star Park Overall came in third. Clayton has long been active with Public Advocate, a national pro-life, pro-family organization.

“Mark Clayton is associated with a known hate group in Washington, D.C.,” the Tennessee Democratic Party claimed in a statement, “and the Tennessee Democratic Party disavows his candidacy, will not do anything to promote or support him in any way, and urges Democrats to write-in a candidate of their choice in November.”

I actually think I will vote for Clayton. (Can’t believe I’m writing and saying that.)

Send Corker (and Alexander) a message.

For now, I’ll hold my nose and push the button for Corker. I know nothing about Clayton and it looks like it may not be easy to find out more. I tried to check out his web site and got this.....

“The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.”

He may be pro-life and pro-traditional marriage but he could be quite liberal on the other issues.

I’m not willing to vote for a dem because of one issue. I need to know a lot more about him.

I don’t know enough about Clayton to say. But I know enough about Senator Corker, and about the (ahem) moderate wing of the Republican Party that I voted for one of the non-Corkers in the primary. I’ll have to do some research before the general election.

They most certainly do not have a democrat tea party. What they had was a very low turnout primary that NO ONE cared about. No major rat ran because they

A)Don’t have much of a bench left
B)Knew Corker could not be beaten

This guy won narrowly cause he was listed first on the ballot and thus got the most random throw away votes.

And this guy is wacko conspiracy theorist not a normal conservative.

Heh. I picked up this picture from the Mother Jones website:

Tennessee Democratic Senate nominee Mark Clayton (third from left) during his 2008 campaign

I honest-to-grandpappy don't know whether it's a for-real campaign pic or a Mother Jones photoshop, but he sure looks like somebody I could have a couple rounds of good times with..

I'd be proud to vote for him instead of Corker, just for the helluvit.

LOL! That’s not a photoshop. It’s a still from someone’s cell phone video of Mark at one of his campaign stops. Channel 5 showed a brief clip of the video last Fri. evening on their 6:00 news and I guffawed when I saw it.

They didn’t state which campaign it was from. I assumed, and I guess others did too, that it was from this year.

From the little I’ve heard him speak, he’s got a bit of “kook factor” that would keep me from ever voting for him.

Photoshop or not, why does Mother Jones feel it necessary to point out Clayton is the “third from the left”.

Really, I would have thought it was the guy in the overalls. LOL

Clayton said he is conservative on many issues, but considers himself a Democrat. He said he intends to ask President Barack Obama to reverse his support for same-sex marriage and has not decided whether he will vote for Obama this fall.

Then consider him a fool. Corker is also conservative on many issues and is fully against Hussien Osama. Also he doesn't think there is a secret plan to merge the USA with Canada and Mexico. But hey whatever if nutty Harry Reid foot soldiers are your cup of Tea, go for it.

Ah, you’re right. I was hoping he was just what the Left calls a “right wing nut.” A person who “might” vote for Obama is, um, not my kind of nut.

Photo shopped or staged. Those are costumes out of the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s feud...all to convenient that it was just a major hit on TV?

And I did NOT vote for Corker in the Primary. To moderate, barely center, sticks finger in wind to see if it will enrich his pockets type voting record.
