Authorities search for motive in deadly shooting at Wisconsin Sikh temple (shooter identified)
Fox News ^ | August 6, 2012 | Jana Winter

Posted on 08/06/2012 4:39:21 AM PDT by Zakeet

The man authorities say killed six in a Milwaukee-area Sikh temple before police shot him was a heavily-tattooed, 40-year-old ex-Army soldier, sources told Fox News, but what triggered his rampage remains unclear.

Sources identified the dead suspect as Wade Michael Page, who was at one time attached to the Fort Bragg Army installation in North Carolina. Local authorities have scheduled a 10 a.m. press conference, where more details may emerge about Page and what the FBI is treating as an act of domestic terrorism in the temple, in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek. Six people were killed and four wounded, including a police officer, before the man being identified as Page was shot dead by a police officer.

Satwant Kaleka, president of the temple, was one of those killed. Sources told Fox News he attempted to tackle the suspect as he sprayed gunfire inside the temple.

Sorry for the loss to the community of, probably some good folks.
I saw somewhere yesterday evening that Michelle Bachmann is reportedly behind this. As “hairy reed” would say, “from a reliable source that I won’t reveal”. Did anybody notice in the article that he “sprayed” bullets? The old fire hose analogy again. And where are jessie and uncle al on this. Why hasn’t uncle obie weighed in yet? No news on the golf course? No doubt we’ll hear from him. Anybody hear what type of weapon he used? Evil assault rifle? Handgun? Shotgun? Just wondering. Brian Ross? Now that’s good.

Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.

Amen brother. I’m literally flabbergasted on how many so-called freepers actually believe this is some wide-ranging conspiracy. This country has nuts. Nuts who want to kill large groups of people. It happens. We have muslim nuts, and we have white nuts. We have black and hispanic nuts too. They come in all flavors. Sometimes, it just is what it is.

ILLINOIS

Ban on assault weapons faces big questions
13 hours ago • By Christopher Wills Associated Press

SPRINGFIELD | Gov. Pat Quinn has taken a dramatic and headline-grabbing step in proposing a ban on assault-style weapons after the horrifying massacre of movie fans at a Colorado theater. But his proposal faces plenty of big hurdles as well as questions about whether it would really do much to reduce crime.

Here’s a closer look at the details:

Q: What is Quinn proposing?

A: He wants to ban the sale of new assault-style weapons and ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, as well as .50-caliber rifles and certain quick-firing shotguns. It would be a felony to possess them illegally.

“Assault weapon” is a slippery term, but Quinn is basically going after the civilian equivalents of rifles like the AK-47 or M-16. These versions are not fully automatic like their military siblings; they fire once with each pull of the trigger. But that still lets a shooter spray bullets quickly, especially when stocked with magazines that carry dozens of rounds each.

People who already own an assault weapon or high-capacity magazine would be allowed to keep them but not sell them to anyone else. And they would have to register with the state.

Q: Would banning assault weapons in Illinois reduce crime?

A: That’s a key question, but nobody really knows the answer.

A 2003 study of the national ban from 1994 to 2004 found the use of assault weapons dropped to varying degrees around the country, but the drop was offset by increased use of other guns that had been equipped with big magazines. If the ban was renewed, the study found, the effects on gun violence “are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.”

A state ban might be even less effective because guns could be brought in from other states.

“It becomes more difficult on a state-by-state basis. You have this flow of illegal weapons,” said Christopher Koper, an associate professor at George Mason University and co-author of that study on the national ban.

But experts caution against drawing firm conclusions about the effectiveness of the federal ban or what impact a ban would have today.

Q: How often are assault weapons used in crimes?

A: Not very. When the national ban was imposed, experts believed assault weapons accounted for between 2 percent and 8 percent of all gun crimes....

If that is the same guy that did the shooting, then the media is going to have a field day with this, and the gun-grabbers in congress will use his gun-rights support as an excuse to attack the 2nd. The comments at Huffpo are reflective of what most of us would say.

Don’t forget, sometime back, this administration called us vets and active duty military terrorists. Only muslims who destroyed our World Trade Center are not terrorists, or any other muslim who guns down 13 soldiers and wounds 36 others at Ft Hood are NOT terrorists.

I don't recall if they called the Dark Night shooter a terrorist. It turns out he may have connections to 4 other black block activists (occupy anarchist) who were planning attacks ( were arrested in 4 different states shortly after the Occupy protester, the shooter, had his computer searched).

Was he called a terrorist? Because if he wasn't, it may be because he was another Oboma favorite. A murderous anti-American.

Not only that, but this Page guy got a LESS THAN HONORABLE discharge from the military. Reasons are not yet known. Could he be a Black Block anarchist #6? The FBI immediately headed for his computer.

Oh, if he had been we would have heard about it several million times.

Please stop posting this crap. Unless you can match the person and their SS number you are most likely pointing blame at an honest/innocent person. Geez. You would think Freepers had more smarts than this.

You may be right. Other than an honorable discharge can be many things, probably physco, but not quite “completely nuts”. Anything..I guess.
