Romney stumps for Indiana tea party Senate candidate Mourdock

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Mitt Romney stumped for tea party Senate candidate Richard Mourdock here on Saturday, arguing that as president he will need such supporters in Washington to help him enact policies to restore fiscal order.

Mourdock introduced Romney, noting he had done so four years ago when Romney came to Indiana stumping for 2008 Republican nominee John McCain.

“He is back and he’s here in part because he’s the ultimate team player, and politics is all about being a team. This is not a solo sport,” Mourdock said. “And for that purpose alone, governor, thank you so much for coming here and supporting our candidacy today.”

Romney shook hands and ordered a pulled chicken sandwich, Mourdock noted that he was proud to stand beside his party’s standard-bearer.

“It’s funny, my opponent Joe Donnelly doesn’t want to be seen with their candidate,” he said.

I figured that in red Texas, but am curious if Romney is openly supporting (if not actively campaigning) for solid conservative candidates in coming election.

Please tell me that Joe Donnelly won't be running for his House seat at the same time he is running for the Senate. Donnelly is another one of those Democrats who claims to be pro-life, except when it comes to actually casting a vote. And in that case, the culture of death reigns.

Donnelly had a chance to vote 'YES' towards having the Hyde Amendment added to the ObamaTax bill. And at a time when his vote really mattered, he voted 'NO'. I will be glad to see him go.

Are you saying Mourdock is not a solid conservative?

If he’s saying, or implying, that he is wrong. Mourdock IS a solid conservative. I’m looking forward to seeing him in the Senate next year along with a new crop of true conservative Republican senators. This past Tuesday Ted Cruz joined the list of those true conservatives. And this coming Tuesday, if the Republican primary voters do the RIGHT thing, Sarah Steelman will also be joining this illustrious group.

So you lucky Missourians, get out the vote for Sarah next Tuesday!

Sounds to me as though Romney is trying by association to tap the power of Palin influence?

Hopefully, we can move the state delegation from 6-3 GOP to 8-1 GOP. Does Walorski have a good shot?

Which is a smart move. I don’t think Palin will rest until Obama is defeated.

It’ll be 7R-2D (we’re unlikely to defeat either Visclosky in the 1st or Andre X in the 7th). Walorski almost won last time, and one reason Donnelly didn’t want to run again. She should take it this time.

"Please tell me that Joe Donnelly won't be running for his House seat at the same time he is running for the Senate."

No, it's Walorski [R] v. Mullen [D] -- this is an open seat pickup that had better happen, because (a) she nearly beat Douchebag Donnelly last time; (b) the recent redistricting was very GOPositive; and (c) the GOPrimary drew 60K voters while the Dems only drew 20K.

Now if he picks Pawlenty or Portman as his vp, and continues to keep Gov Palin from convention speaking roll, then he is in trouble

Walorski is a valid candidate. If my memory is correct, she ran against Donnelly in 2010 and almost won, but there was a libertarian on the ballot who received like 5% of the vote.

I think she does have a valid shot this year, but I live in IN 4 and Todd Rokita is my rep.

Giving credit where credit is due: willard did the right and honorable thing.

That said, I still intend to vote for Virgil.

Never said or implied that Mourdock is not conservative.
What my question implied is that if Romney is supporting conservative candidates such as Cruz, then it is encouraging news. If Romney is against Cruz, Mourdock etc, that is not good news.
