EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Mitt Romney stumped for tea party Senate candidate Richard Mourdock here on Saturday, arguing that as president he will need such supporters in Washington to help him enact policies to restore fiscal order.

Mourdock introduced Romney, noting he had done so four years ago when Romney came to Indiana stumping for 2008 Republican nominee John McCain.

“He is back and he’s here in part because he’s the ultimate team player, and politics is all about being a team. This is not a solo sport,” Mourdock said. “And for that purpose alone, governor, thank you so much for coming here and supporting our candidacy today.”

Romney shook hands and ordered a pulled chicken sandwich, Mourdock noted that he was proud to stand beside his party’s standard-bearer.

“It’s funny, my opponent Joe Donnelly doesn’t want to be seen with their candidate,” he said.

Is Romney supporting/campaigning for GOP nominee Cruz in Texas?

Romney has spent little time in Texas, he has made some fund raising stops, he will win Texas without much of a fight. Since my vote is not needed for a Texas win I will be writing in my first choice Palin.

Sounds to me as though Romney is trying by association to tap the power of Palin influence?

Say what you will about Mittens he didn’t get to the level of success in business and politics without recognizing trends. He can not win without the base and Palin is a large part of the base and her opinion/endorsement help push conservative candidates over the top.
Palin is stacking Congress with an A team of strong conservative leaders who will be shaping future policy and righting the nation’s drifting financial ship for years to come. When the time comes favors mean a lot in DC.

Giving credit where credit is due: willard did the right and honorable thing.

That said, I still intend to vote for Virgil.

Whether Sarah gets a speaking slot at the Convention or not, she will eventually come out for Romney. To not do so would hurt her to badly politically. She could still be the nominee in 2016.

“Please tell me that Joe Donnelly won’t be running for his House seat at the same time he is running for the Senate.”

He’s not, and Republicans are likely to win it.

With Romney pulling away from Obama in Indiana, this can only help.

I don’t think it’s legal to run for US House and Senate at the same time.

Some states let you run for VP (and by extension P as well I guess) and Congress at the same time (Benson, Lieberman).

Carson is dangerous because he’s in a guaranteed seat and young (38).

He’ll work his way up the seniority ladder and be a committee chair when the Dems next take the House.

This is how people like Pelosi and Waxman did it.

I believe that such rules only apply to Republicans. In 2000, Joe Lieberman ran for both Vice President and US Senate. Joe Biden did the same thing in 2008.

They don’t, but no Republican Senator up for reelection in a state that allows it has ever been nominated for VP.

But House and Senate at the same time is just ridiculous, that’s can’t be legal in any state.
