I believe it because the biggest crime in NYC is to jump a a turnstile.
And this non arrest custody with handcuffs sounds hokey. If you are not free to go you are arrested.

Likely she was “detained” but not arrested. Not finger printed and thrown in a cell. Whatever it was it was wrong.
Lets say the card was stolen or expired. If she had gone to court for a $1.00 misuse of a subway card, in otherwords the same as a stolen token what would her punishment be? Nothing. A warning at most not to do it again. But getting your face smashed up agains the wall and having cuffs on for more than about 60 seconds is more punishment than she would have received by any court, many times over. The little girl, and she was just a little girl, was abused and will never forget it. She will never have any respect for cops nor will any of her friends and family.
Too, too many cops abuse their powers and throw around their power of intimidation because they can. It is sick what they did to this poor little girl, it is wrong. I hope the cops that did it are fired and never allowed to wear a badge again, ever. Every cop should be a good cop or fired, period. There should never be a second chance for abuse of authority.
Not sure. Her name is Alexis. What black girl who is 15 would be named that? Now if it was Kenisha or something like that, okay. And also, no group has come out yelling racism. Ergo, she must have been white. But then, what white girl would be taking the subway? Alone?
from the looks of her picture in post #9, one who's family makes a fairly good living...
Let me see if I’ve got this straight. If you are suspected of stealing half the fare for a ride on the train, you MUST SHOW a Birth Certificate, but if you want to be President of the United States it racist for anyone to even mention one.
I was thinking along the same lines - no wonder Obama doesn't use the subway! No B.C.
Doomberg’s fault.
It would be funny if what the gummit steamroller did to people wasn’t so sad. There’s a lot of truth to that. Rob a bank and the mayor will barely care. But if they think you’re cheating them out of some official revenue, woe betide you.
Picture went up after my post so I didn’t see it until later.
And now that you’ve seen it?
What the H.E.L.L. has happened?
Haven’t noticed the Muslim Brotherhood in the White House and government positions and all those Americans (especially the eldery, handicapped and children) being hand raped and x-rayed at the air ports?
Homeland inSecurity has spread that abusive attitude to all public transportation systems. In a war zone militarized cops are trained be an occupying force and to deal with insurgents. That is not the same as police purpose, interaction and practices of our constitutional republic.
I will have to retract part of my statement.
Or, perhaps, change a word to ‘ghetto’?

Are you really this stupid?

And the stupidity continues.
Sadly, illegals are the only truly free people in America.
When the courts systematically fail to to be just, the application of justice devolves first to the police and then to vigilantes. . . .

In this particular case the courts will never see anything about it. The cops get away with it and the little girl or shall we say, society, will never have their day in court. Her lawyer will probably tell her to keep quiet and tell her she is lucky she didn’t get hurt, to just sht up and go away.
I recently got stopped for driving around a cone that was blocking my driveway. Somebody thought it would be a good idea to use my drive way for the finish line for some community race. Nobody told me, nobody asked me. When a local deputy tried to stop me from pulling into my drive way I ignored him and told him I live here, that he could shoot me if he wanted but I was pulling into my drive.
It was a stupid decision on my part. The cop decided to show me he was boss and while he didn’t shoot me it might have been better if he did. He instead arrested me.
I have prescription meds that I keep on me all the time in a little pill box. How did I know that the state had passed a law that all medicines, even over the counter meds must be kept in their original containers at all times. I ended up spending the night in jail for possession of illegal drugs. Never mind that I have the prescription, never mind that I was on my driveway. Never mind that I did not invite the cops or racers onto my property. This was just two weeks ago. This is insane.
I don’t trust the court system. I have a lawyer, I will likely have to pay something in the way of fines for carrying my perfectly legal drugs in an unauthorized container. Our society is broken.
When society get broken enough that enough people get abused they will stop putting up with it and they will organize and take the law into their own hands. Bad things will happen to people who now administer the law in the eyes of the vigilaities, unfairly. It will not be very pretty for some people.
If I am around when it happens, perhaps I will know that it is not good but, like the little 15 year old girl that was abused, and that is what she was, perhaps I might have a hard time wiping the smile off my face.
With luck that will continue.
That being said, I FULLY understand what you are saying, and when the system gets the percussive maintenance it so desperately requires, I will endeavor to keep a poker-face.
