Five armed men who attempted to rob a jewellery store were left scrambling for the door when a 65-year-old woman opened fire on them.
The handgun-wielding thieves, clad in hoodies, were forced to flee Continental Jewelry in Garden Grove, California, after the woman chased after them last week.
The men pulled up to the store in a white Ford SUV and entered one by one, pointing their guns at the clerks and one customer.
They ordered everybody to drop to the ground, while opening up pillowcases and demanding cash in what was likely to be a violent smash-and-grab heist.
But the robbers were thwarted in their tracks when the 65-year-old storeowner heard the commotion from the back of the store.
She ran into the main room while firing two rounds, causing the men to panic and attempt to flee the store.

If I owned a jewelry store or sold things like cell phones I most certainly would have a gun handy at all times. I also would have a small inner lobby equipped with a metal detector and would only let one or two customers in at a time. Their insurance costs have to be totally through the roof.
Outstanding! It is heartening to read so many articles lately about citizens fighting back. Only thing would make this incident better is if the lady had a carbine in the back instead of a handgun. Bless her all the same. OBTW...65 is NOT elderly, dammit.

The woman who shot at the robbers would have been S**t Out Of Luck if she was walking down the street. Getting a Conceal Carry in any Urban Area in CA is nearly impossible.
I live in South Orange County, and the County Sheriff that replaced the disgraced Mike Corona doesn't like having an armed Population. She pulled a whole bunch of Permits right after the idiots here Voted her in. Her opponent was an advocate for Conceal Carry and had pledged to support any Law Abiding Citizen who wanted to Carry.

Amazing how today's "protectors" couldn't care less about protecting the citizenry...Wasn't always that way.
Now all they are good for is suiting up in Kevlar and smashing in doors in the middle of the night to frighten (often worse) senior citizens and/or dogs. They got away scot-free on Waco and that empowered them to go on an unrelenting power-rampage ever since.

I would build a tastefully concealed corridor leading into the store that had remote controlled locking doors, power closing assisted as well, and it would be bulletproof, robbers either coming or going will caught in this corridor and then taken away like a vermin rat in a trap.

I'll be 75 next week and I still shoot a lot on my backyard "gun range" (I live on a few acres way out in the boonies). In fact I was out there today shooting my latest acquisition, a tiny Keltec .380 semiauto that's about the size of the tiny old Colt/Browning .25acp pocket pistols and weighs only 8 ounces believe it or not. I shot at least one 10 round 3" group @ 7 yards distance, which IMHO isn't all that bad for that little-bitty popgun and my old eyes. That won't win any matches, but it would absolutely ruin a BG's day.
Daughter said they should have played "Yackety Sax" over the video. ;o)

I did a lot of work over the years for SFPD. They had an entrance into their communications room like that. You pick up the phone outside, ask to come in, and once in the corridor you're trapped. You get the lookover, via bulletproof glass and video, more confirmation before allowed to go through the second door. I always thought it would be nice to build that into my house.
