At the outset of his recent foreign trip, Mitt Romney committed a gaffe. In answer to a question about the Olympics, he expressed skepticism about London’s preparations. The response confounded and agitated Romney supporters because it was such an unforced error. The question invited a simple paean to Olympic spirit and British grit, not the critical analysis of a former Olympic organizer.
Soon that initial stumble was transmuted into a metaphor for everything that followed. The mainstream media decided with near unanimity that the rest of the trip amounted to a gaffe-prone disaster.
Really? The Warsaw leg was a triumph. Romney’s speech warmly embraced Poland’s post-communist experiment as a stirring example of a nation committed to limited government at home and a close alliance with America abroad, even unto such godforsaken war zones as Afghanistan and Iraq, at great cost to itself and with little thanks.
Especially little from the Obama administration, which unilaterally canceled a Bush(43)-era missile-defense agreement with Poland to appease Russia. Without any overt criticism of the current president, Romney set out a foreign policy of radically greater appreciation of and fidelity to American allies.
Yet all we hear about Warsaw is the “gaffe”: two phrases uttered by an aide, both best described as microscopically rude. At The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a pack of reporters hurled questions of such journalistic sophistication as, “What about your gaffes?” To which Rick Gorka suggested that the reporters kiss his posterior, a rather charming invitation that would have made a superb photo op.
The other offense against human decency was Gorka’s correlative directive to “shove it.”
The horror! On the eve of the 2004 Democratic Convention, Teresa Heinz Kerry offered precisely that anatomically risky suggestion to an insistent Pittsburgh journalist....

Rush Limbaugh voiced that he would like to see Barack Obama’s socialist agenda not get passed (fail in his attempts to have a velvet revolution to fundamentally forever change America’s way of life). The presstitutes said he was unpatriotic in wanting Barack to “fail”.
The same presstitutes are insisting that Mitt Romney “failed” in his meeting for foreign world leaders. Why do they want to see him “fail” if is the one who will be Commander in Chief come 2013?

Nonetheless we're foolish not to work for the most conservative Congress we can, along with defeating Obama. Anything else is silly talk.
So vote for Obama, or don't vote at all, which will be pretty much the same thing.
I've heard people say they want Obama and the Dems to win, in order to push the USA over the edge, and to have an Atlas Shrugged style collapse.
The problem with that is that there's no "Galt's Gulch. There are no groups of industrialists who will reshape society and rebuild society. If history has taught us anything, democracies (Yes, I know we're supposed to be a constitutional republic, but we've been morphed into a democracy with a strong totalitarian "leader" who pretty much does what ever he wants, breaking laws at will). Anyway, if history teaches us anything, it's that democracies ALWAYS morph into totalitarian governments, and the social order always reverts to tyranny.
It's doubtful that the combination of minds that came up with the American Experiment will ever occur again, and once lost, the republic will be gone forever.

Much discussed at the Constitutional Convention of 1787 and it was believed that to include a form of each in the government, with checks and balances on each, would provide for a stable government (A New Age Now Begins - Page Smith).
Sadly, it looks like Democracy grows corpulent in our society, and is pushing aside the other forms, weakening them to point where they cannot resist. Once we've had too much of it, Totalitarianism is next, followed by Oligarchy. I guess we live in interesting times.

I can't speak for everyone on this site, but I'm pretty sure most are intelligent enough to know what the GOP thrust upon us. In an upthread post, you stated something about giving our country over to evil. Guess what..this country is in the grips of political evil as we speak.
I think that the only thing that will stop the moral decline of this country is...us. Me, you our neighbor. It doesn't depend on any elected official...it is up to us to live a more moral life. If we elect Idi Amin, we won't become cannibals.
I was very disappointed that Romney is the apparent nominee. But take a look at who his opponent is.
